Factory iPod Integration Successful...
I've tried the PAC and am currently using the USA spec interface, but this one looks very good.
A few questions to those who have theirs set up already...
Can you fast forward/rewind songs from the radio controls? (mainly for those 1 hour podcasts)
Does it pause the iPod when you turn off the ignition or radio and automatically resume when you turn the ignition back on?
When you leave a playlist does it remember what song you were at and when you go back to the playlist and resume from where you left off?
What does the up/down steering control do when you press it briefly (less than 3 seconds)?

FX...
No fast forward that i've seen... haven't tried it with the bookmarkable podcasts however.
Yes it remembers where you were and auto starts that same song back. Almost instantly. I'd hear the ipod after starting quicker than i'd hear the FM
If you're talking about going to a playlist, playing a song, then selecting a song by artist to play, then going back to that playlist and expecting it to resume from where you left it... no, it doesn't do that.
On the switches... i want to say it does nothing. Haven't tried it in a while....

Hey Jtesensky, I have an "04 coupe w/the sat button but i dont have the sat feature in my car. Which kit do i need and do i need to find out if im "prewired", or just by having the button means im prewired?
Also, i have the nano and i want to custom install the ipod wiring to the ashtray (i already tested it, it fits), will the cord that you provide w the kit be enough length? Because i dont have to go through the trunk, because i dont have SAT, right???

bikinilust,
If you are an 04, you are prewired. Look for the white plug connected to nothing underneath the plastic shroud on the driver's side of your trunk.
If you want to mount the the ipod control box up front, there's sufficient length to do so using the length of the thicker sat harness cable. I just coiled mine up and left in the trunk. You can stretch yours out so that it runs under the seat or in the center console. If you did that, you *might* have enough length on the ipod cable from the box to make it to the ashtray.
The install would be a little trickier as you have to route a larger cable into the cabin and find a grounding point for the ipod box (I can show you some ideas if you mount it inside the center console). I'd also hope you're pretty handy with a dremel to do the fab work required to mount the nano in the ashtray up front.

I'm so confused about this whole length issue. Where is the problem exactly? When you view the marketing documentation about the G35 and the iPod connectivity, they generally show the wire coming out of the arm rest area. Is the SAT wire long enough, but the iPod part isn't and people don't want to run the SAT wire into the car?
Hi Everyone,
The kit works great. No need for worries. I have not found a fast forward/rewind feature yet.
The biggest problem is not having access to second level scrolling. Playlists are a must if you have a big catalog and are like me and don't want to give in to all the anti-album people. The problem with the playlist feature is that the display only shows ten characters. So, if you want your playlists to mimic your albums and begin with the artist's name you have to be creative. For example, instead of Frank Zappa-200 Motels, you may have to settle for FZ-200 Mots.
All that said, the system works great and is worth it. These are just consequences of being 3-4 years ahead of everyone else.

FX, i partially retract my previous statement... If you're playing a playlist, then go off somewhere else (turn off ignition, go to a track by artist, whatever), and go back to the playlist, i was correct in saying that it would not automagically go to where in the playlist you left off. However, i was wrong in saying that it did not resume. Did the exact sequence above, picked my playlist and the first song started playing. When i got to the podcast i cut out on, it picked it up right where i left off. So bottom line, it will remember where in the song you were, but it's up to you to seek to that song on the playlist.
