New (Used) G35 owner. Am I doing something wrong?
I'm very pleased with my new toy. I'm not sure if my G35 is defective or if I'm doing something wrong here. I turn off my car. I get out and shut the door. I pushed the lock button on my fob. And the lights don't turn off after 5 minutes? Am I doing something wrong or is something wrong with my Homey G?

The auto light turn off has a few different options. Your dealer should be able to change how long they stay on.
I found the thread and here was the modes that could be set:
Mode 1 = 45 sec
Mode 2 = off
Mode 3 = 30 sec
Mode 4 = 60 sec
Mode 5 = 90 sec
Mode 6 = 120 sec
Mode 7 = 150 sec
Mode 8 = 180 sec
The longest is 3 minutes so maybe it was on mode 8 and just felt like 5minutes?

thanks kei for the reply. i've read that it's 5 minutes for when you turn off your ignition and opening and closing your door. the mode setting is for when the headlights turn on automatically due to dimness...such as in a tunnel.
does your g's headlight automatically turn off after locking your car? mine stays on forever until the battery dies, like it did today.

Mine stays on for a couple of minutes after locking.
Your light switch must be on "Auto" (Not "On") for the auto-off feature to work.
Also...I learned by experience that the timer starts when it "thinks" you left the car (based on opening/closing the drivers door) -- I once parked next to a wall so I got out of the car on the passenger side. That day, the light never shut off.

Are you sure the mode setting is for when the lights go 'ON' instead of 'OFF'. My lights go on pretty immediately if I'm in a garage or a tunnel. Also, are you sure you have yours set to 'Auto' instead of 'On' because it's not going to go off if you have it on 'On'.
Here's the thread: https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/50386-auto-headlights.html

Has there been anything done to the car?
You need to make sure your drivers door pin is working.
Lower the windows, arm the alarm, and wait ~30 seconds until the LED starts flashing.
Then, reach through the window and open the door. If the alarm does not go off then your door pin is bad, which would cause your lights to stay on (a bug in the BCM program, it should have a safety timeout regardless of when you open the door).

Thanks for all your replies! It was the door pins. I feel like such a dumbass now. I got my Homey G tinted all around with some expensive tint and didn't want to mess it up with the automatical window roll down when you open the door, so I taped the door pins in. So when I open the door and close it, the system didn't recognize that I ever opened the door! doooooh.
