a/c wont turn off and radio not working.
No micrometer to give exact measurements... just tiny momentary contact buttons.
You've got like 12 of them to choose from on your old unit, so I wouldn't worry about desoldering them, it's easy.

This just happened to me the other day on my way to work.03 coupe. Ac cuts on by itself, goes on auto and goes full blast while radio cuts out. Can't control either on. However I can control the radio from my steering wheel. After reading this thread, I'm convinced that doing the jdm double din conversion will do the trick(I had intentions doing jdm dd conversion anyway) read the stickys, however I failed to see what I was looking for; when I change my radio am I going to lose my 6disc CD changer? Not that I really care for it since I use my iPod 80% of the time. I can live without if I have to.
Thanks

If the Infiniti Dealership will not help you, call Infiniti North America 800-662-6200 and open a case file with them. They may be able to help you. There are no guarantees but it is better than the response I got from my local dealership. Retail cost to replace the dash and fix the radio from the dealership is $1500! Good luck everyone.
just because you open a case doesnt mean youll get anywhere with them .i have an 03 model with 90k miles ,according to them thats excess miles and i had a rotar that was according to them 1mm out of spec thus that was a sign of neglect so no help for me.so just do like myself and most everyone else has done and go aftermarket
has anyone figured out what exactly is causing this issue, or what component on the board is failing? there are a lot of places that can fix this issue and repair radios. Well there are also a lot of us who are great with electronics; a DIY for this could be very beneficial for a lot of people.

I am sorry they didn't help you with your rotor issue, but I don't think it is an apples to apples comparison to the defect being discussed in this thread. There is nothing I could have done to create this defect with the radio and A/C controls going out. If I had broken a button or something through use, I would not expect Infiniti to cover the repair. But since it is a design flaw, I think they should bear some, if not all the responsibility to a poorly designed center console and radio.

Infiniti's solution is to send in the radio for repair and replace your dash piece with the new control board. This is $1500 retail through the dealership. (No way this is happening.)
Another solution is to buy the JDM double DIN kit and an aftermarket head unit which will also fix the problem. However, you will lose your ability for dual climate control as the JDM kit does not have a space for the dual climate control button. (This will be my last resort)
I have an appointment with my local Infiniti Dealership for another service issue they are having with the passenger side airbag. (Do this if you haven't already) I have been told by Infiniti NA to have the dealership run a diagnosis on the issue I am having with the radio and A/C and to reference the case number I opened with them. Hopefully, Infiniti NA will be able to offer some help, but I am not keeping my hopes up at this point.
In any case, I will be back next week to post my results.
I hope this helps someone else out there having the same issues.
Yeah i know all about the JDM DD finisher and the lack of help from nissan/infiniti but what I want to know is what exactly on the board is failing that is causing this particular issue. Is it a micro-controller, some resistor pack, etc? People are fixing these as a service and making anywhere from $165-500 to do it. I know it can't be a complicated/expensive fix. I want people who are good with electronics (like me and so many others) to be able to do this themselves. I want to be able to do this for people as a favor to the g community. I want to fix them for the cost of parts and shipping/pennies on the dollar for what others are charging. How come no one has a DIY up for this yet? BTW if anyone is willing to donate/sell for cheap a radio/finisher that has this problem, to me I would really like to explore this further.
My 03' just started with this problem yesterday. I called Infiniti NA today, and was told that my car's previous owner had the service performed and they would not cover it.
I am pretty irritated, if Infiniti knows this is a wide spread issue, my car had the service performed in the past, and the same problem is happening again........they won't take responsibility for the defect??
I also asked if there had been reports of those who had the "audio finisher circuit board" replaced having the problem reoccur like I am. I was told "No".

I know that mine didnt mess up until the 6 disc changer wouldnt eject a cd, i would also like to know what part of the board is damaged .unless you know what value everything is when its working correctly i imagine it would be difficult to track down ;(
