Scanners, Detectors, Radios, Alarms.
Lately I been looking into getting a few presents for my G35. Anyone have any opinions on my choices?
Uniden BCT7
Valentine 1
Motorola CB's
Clifford Avantguard 4 with additional Black Jax.
Of course I dont have money to get everything at once. Maybe some of you can give me some ideas. Thanks.

Re: Scanners, Detectors, Radios, Alarms.
The Valentine1 or the Escort 8500 seem to be the best to radar detectors available. Which one of those is better could probably be debated.
I don't think a G35 needs a car alarm. The factory vehicle immobilizer system will prevent theft by anyone who couldn't get around your aftermarket alarm as well. You may want to look into a theft recovery device, such as LoJack or Teletrak.
I don't have an opinion on the scanners and CB's.

Re: Scanners, Detectors, Radios, Alarms.
this topic has been hammered lately on this forum man, i think 90% consensus was that the V1 is the best, if you can afford it... then do a permanent mounting/hardwire+remote display...
motorolla CB..lol...why?
Clifford thing seems a bit expensive $500-$700, im sure you can find a more reasonable antitheft system for under $200 with remote paging and autostart and all that stuff heh
of the 4 products you listed, i recommend the valentine as a top priority, then an antitheft system
good luck

Re: Scanners, Detectors, Radios, Alarms.
I already have Lo Jack. Yeah I guess the Factory Alarm is pretty good already, especially for the chip in the key that cant be replaced. However it's not always getting the car stolen, more like breaking in to. Right now it seems a bit generic, but its still in thought.
I am thinking about Valentine 1, but not cheap.
CB's are for fun, don't think I will get it since i have a Cell phone haha.. Scanners, maybe the Uniden BCT7 will be good? Not sure if want to invest in it.

Re: Scanners, Detectors, Radios, Alarms.
I recently bought the Valentine1, and I must say, it is worthy every penny. The detector is simply amazing. I got mine a little while back, just 2 days before making the trip from Lubbock, TX to Dallas. It paid for itself in that 1 trip home. It saved me from 3 tickets that I almost guarantee I would've gotten with my old detector (a not bad, not great Whistler). On the way back it saved me from 2 or 3 more. One of them was a State Trooper that I picked up 5 miles (literally) before I ever got to him. My dad drove around with it for one day and already decided he is going to buy one (and he already has an Escort 7500, the next-to most up-to-date model). The only bad thing I can think of about the V1 is that every time you want to mute the volume, you have to push the button on the face of the detector, which isn't a bad thing unless you're in a car where the slope of the windshield puts the detector far away from you. But trust me, you won't be disappointed. Excellent product.

It doesn't have an automute feature? That's one of the things I like about my Bel Vector STi. If automute is on, it goes off at first, then resorts to quietly clicking (faster for higher signal strengths).

No automute. Mike Valentine says that the problem with automute is that sometimes the driver forgets about the initial alert or doesn't even hear it sometimes. The mute is manual and the volume of the mute is infinitely adjustable. Works great when you get used to it.
