The DDin shopping/resource list goes over everything you need to take the dash off.

07's are easy.

Whats the advantages of getting PA15-INFI over the NIS?

I read through all the pages and its just basicly the mounting places?
The INFI can be run through your satellite located in the trunk, hence you will not have to take apart your dash as you would with the NIS.

^ Yea thats what i meant, as in the only difference are the mounting places basicly?

Id rather just go with NIS since removing the dash / HU probally isnt hard.

So I finally was able to get this stupid thing set up properly to how I wanted.

I wanted volume control on steering wheel, track change on steering wheel and full iPod control to change playlists, artists, albums, etc on the iPod itself. After f*cking around forever trying to set it up how the instructions say you have to I tried something else.

I disconnected the negative from the battery in case it some how has a memory attached. Waited ~half an hour and came back. I set my dip switch as follows:
1-2-3-4
off-on-on-on

Next chose a song on the iPod, played it for a few seconds and paused, then connected to cable. Put the key to ACC and hit CD. The iPod started to play. I hit #6 right away and you can see on the iPod it unlocks itself. Now I can scroll through and change it however I want just as normal. If I want to change to the next track for that artist, I just hit SEEK on the steering wheel, volume works great.

I honestly don't see me changing anything ever. Our radio stations suck bad here in Calgary and well, I don't want to see it trying to setup something with the XM1 and XM2 presets like before when I hit RADIO.

I may have a SAT hooked up or be SAT-ready I'm not sure, however I don't have a SAT button (unless I hit RADIO a few times while the PA15-NIS is connected). I have NAV. Track titles don't display on the radio but that doesn't bother me.

Sound quality is good but I did make sure the ground was connected to part of the radio chassis.

The hardest part of the day, honestly, was getting the darn shift **** off my MT

^^^ a couple of questions..
So when you turn on the unit initially, does it immediately connect into direct mode or do you have to hit a button to change it to direct mode?

Also when you hit the seek button on the steering wheel, do you have to hold it down for ~2 seconds or does it skip to the next track immediately?

Thanks

OK I just went back to the garage to check a few things for you.

First and foremost, clicking seek on the steering wheel is immediate to the next song of whatever you have setup playing at the time. For example: Album X with 1 of 16 songs, will keep clicking next until it reaches 16. Actually come to think of it, I'm not sure what happens if you clicked next on 16. Ah well. Holding the seek button skips it to something, I believe to whatever preset 1 is. The presets are all buggered up and I have no idea what they do. Preset 2 and 4 will play two playlists I know I have set up, but not in the correct listing order (ie: playlist 1 will appear in itunes above playlist 2, however playlist one is actually the preset 4). All I worry about is clicking preset 6. This will continue playing the song and unlock the iPod for direct mode.

As for direct mode on start up, yes and no. I'll make it easier.

Situation 1:
You are playing a song on the iPod, turn your car off, come back, turn the car on. The song will start playing from the same spot you last heard and will stay in direct mode. The key here is that the iPod needs to stay connected for this to happen.

Situation 2:
You need to disconnect the iPod for whatever reason. You come back and now it doesn't work?! WTF. Very simple fix. What you need to do here is start playing a song while the iPod is still disconnected and pause it after a few seconds. Now connect it. If you last left your car listening to the iPod, it will still be on CD and the message will be saying 'No disc'. Click radio and click back to CD. It should start playing now. If you left your car on radio and you've connected the iPod, hitting CD will not fix it. I believe it says something like 'Disc Change'. Just hit Radio and again hit CD. It will start playing. To get back into direct mode, just hit preset 6, otherwise the iPod will still be locked, playing whatever it feels like haha.

Hope that helps.

Only one will work. Count the number of pins. There will be only one spot to plug in each connector. You can't mess it up.

If I remember correctly, the USA spec harness has two plugs that must be plugged in to the back of your head unit. You then take the two original plugs that were plugged into your head unit and plug them into the harness connectors.

Did you plug the originals into the USA spec wire harness connectors?

Mine is an 06' with nav and the bose system. I had to use the 10pin cable. Make sure to plug in the factory plugs in the female harnesses on the US Spec harness. Plug the US Spec harness MALE plugs into the radio.

I'm still sure not sure where to mount the box. I looked by the shifter in the center console and nothing seemed to fit properly.

I've got a Schoshe LOC (line out converter) hooked up to the harness behind my head unit. Anyone know if I can still connect the USA SPEC wiring harnesses without losing the functionality of my LOC? Thanks.
