$300 for a "custom" ported box isnt bad. Did you want the sub mounted in the corner or was it gonna be a prefab kinda box?

A SX 10" only needs about 1 cube ported, you will be impressed with how much output you get with only 1 cube ported

Shying away from $300 and still considering buying a 1000-1500w rms mono amp for the SX? an overrated Kenwood 900w mono amp won't cut it, believe me... SXs aren't exactly what you call efficient drivers.

What kind of $$$ do you have for an amp?

gasp................... so put one out there that suit the SX well, no point in having a nice sub without a good amp.

...especially since that amp is rated @ 15-16V in real life bench tests. Won't put out rated power @ 13.8V, far from that.

Yeah, in an SPL/don't-care-much-for-SQ world, I guess that's decent.

Get a dual 2 ohm SX -wire it down to a 1 ohm final load- and this remarkable, old school (~'04), reliable, super clean amp:

http://www.woofersetc.com/p8138/PA15...-Amplifier.htm

Will do ~1350w rms @ 13.8V (around idle), and even more when running the car at 1500+ RPM. Get a nice, high reserve capacity (amp/hr, or "AH") battery for car-off listening sessions.

$280. Boom. Enjoy...
