Wrathernaut,
2 things....
1) Do you have a factory part # for the flat trim piece that goes between the stereo & dash in black?
2) I have a bose system to donate to the cause if that will help your R & D... maybe a good write up on how to fix the dreaded no power to head unit...??
Thanks
Mike

You just cut the middle bar out with a razor blade and trim the edges to fit in the JDM trim.
2) I can always use another, but the no power problem is a problem with a power supply in the unit, which is beyond my repair knowledge to fix. I'd probably use it to build a plug&play navigation voice retention adapter (the wiring diagram in the FAQ section), or maybe a better-produced CD removal video.

So my parents offered to get my radio system replaced as a birthday gift(which is tomorrow, woot). They took my car today to some audio installer, and the guy quoted $200 for the dash kit+installation. They already paid that $200 as a down payment. Now I just have to decide on an aftermarket radio to buy and install in there too. Obviously, that price is way too low for the JDM trim, so I checked the receipt and sure enough, it was the part number for the metra kit.
I told my mom that I researched this and the metra kit won't fit my oem navigation. She said the audio shop guys told her they knew what they were doing. I guess they are supposed to be the professionals after all. I hope they're right.![Eek3](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/eek3.gif)

Compared to the JDM trim's perfect match:

You can get a metra kit ($90) + a decent single-din or basic double-din for $150-200 and not have to worry about it dying like the OEM seems to always do.

Ah, thanks for those pictures! If that's what it'll look like, I'm perfectly fine with it. I'll just be happy to be able to listen to music and control my AC again!
That's a bad idea dude. You know there was a recall on these radios right? When I called my dealership to see if I could get the radio/AC trim replaced, they checked my VIN and told me that it's already been replaced once and it would cost me for another replacement. ![Icon43](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/icon43.gif)
**** that, I'm not paying to get the same shitty radio that will just die on me again.
