Being unbelievably ****/ocd about having everything routed super clean/perfect shielded/and put together like a german tank I decided to reroute the wires going to my pioneer HD radio module sitting in the back of the car. So I unhooked the yellow power wire from the harness up front, the bus wire, and the antenna wire and started working. Then out of nowhere I noticed a thin puff of smoke come out of my PAC-ROEM NIS2 and as I watched in horror I realized that the thin yellow power wire coming out of my harness under the radio that was minutes ago hooked up to the yellow power wire headed to my HD radio module had just made contact with the PAC-ROEM. As the word "fawk" slowly rolled off my lips I knew it was too late and I knew what I did during my OCD-ish quest for perfection .... I forgot to disconnect the battery.

So I'm out 40$ as I just reordered a new PAC-ROEM, checked all the fuzes and none seem to be blown (back of headunit fuze, fuze to HD radio, fuze on steering wheel interface). Is there a good chance I damaged anything other than the PAC-ROEM during my excursion into idiotland?
Sounds like the $40 ROEM-NIS2 did it's job of protecting a $0.25 fuse. Don't forget the battery next time.

For the people who got the PAC-SWI JACK for a Kenwood DNX 7120 did you use just use the Blue w/ yellow wire? and not have use the audio jack when hooking it up to the DD?. I have the old PAC module btw (black one, not the blue one.) I haven't had a chance to test it yet because my speakers aren't hooked up to the Amp until tomorrow.

Wrathernaut, thank you for the great write up. I cant imagine how many people this help. much appreciated.

Three questions,

1- Before I bought my G I was searching the web, I remember seeing a thread about a member that was offering the service of soldering the dual climate button any idea who it might be?

I'm having really hard time finding a silver JDM trim for my 04, if I don't find one soon I might go for the Metra one, even though I hate how it looks.

2- Not sure if this was asked before, but if i'm to go for the Metra, I know the buttons don't match and look cheap, but can I swap the buttons out of my stock HVAC controls and install them on the Metra kit?

3- Can I use the PAC-JACK for the steering wheel controls? I'm installing a JVC KW-NT3HDT

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I combed through this thread but didn't see my question:

I've narrowed down my DD unit to the Pioneer z130bt and z120bt (same price right now but I like the appearance of the z120bt better). Anyway, I came across a post from a guy who said his bass didn't hit as hard as before he installed his Pioneer. I, like him, want to keep my Bose amp and sub and was the hoping the aftermarket unit alone would give me a considerable sound quality upgrade.

Anyone out there with the z120bt or z130bt and bose system with any advice?

I had the Z110 hooked up to my factory amp for a very short while just to check it out, no change in audio quality, but these bose POS amps are made by whomever in china or mexico (wherever it's cheaper that week) are wildly inconsistent, so it's really just luck of the draw how good it sounds.

But definitely go with the Z130 - built-in HD radio and traffic tuner come with it.

So would you recommend upgrading my amp and sub? What are you running with your z120bt?

Step 1: If you can't understand this:

Take it to somebody who can, otherwise, it's far too involved to try and explain.

it's a 6v 3pdt. Not the most common, but easily found online.

Yo is there a reverse lamp wire up front some where? for the rear view camera signal wire to tap into. Im sure I once read a post Wrathernaut saying its a purple wire but I can't find the post so I wanna double check. I'm not tryna run another wire from the rear of the car to the deck. Also you guys think its safe for me to get the 12v for the camera from my amps distributor block?
Thanks
