i have been wanting to do this for a while. I just got a 03 g35. i want to get the JDM kit. Whats the best place to order from? Also whats a good double din. I was looking at the Pioneer FH-P8000BT. (looking for bluetooth for iphone 4) Does the wiring kit given from crutchfield.com work with the bose amp? also, if im planning on adding an amp and subs in the trunk do i need a 6 channel radio?

Whomever gives you best price, has them available and ships well is the best place, check all the linked places, and don't be afraid to PM the people on this board linked on post #1.

If you're using an iPhone 4 and like using Pandora or other internet radio apps, I'd start with the Pioneer 3300BT.

The wiring kit that crutchfield uses is the equivalent of the Metra 70-7551, some have had luck with it, but especially 03-04's, there's a good chance you'll get extremely quiet audio out of it. The PAC ROEM-NIS2 is the recommended option for keeping the Bose amp. I'd recommend just doing the amp at the same time as the radio.

You don't need a 6-channel radio, especially if you do the recommended option of just front soundstage and a sub or two in the trunk.

The factory bose amp takes four channels of input.

I favor front soundstage + sub, so that only requires 3 channels, so even a 4-channel setup would be fine, but most high-end stereos will give you 6 anyway. I don't think I'd choose radio based on audio channels, there's plenty of other features that matter more.

ok i read your 3 way component thread and im still not sure as to how many channels I need. I want the speakers on all four door (front: tweeters and woofer and back: 6.5 woofers) to all work. I dont care about the factory bose sub, it sucks. I would probably disconnect it even if i dont have too. I will also be adding a sub and amp in the trunk. im not truly concerned with "front sound staging" at this time. When i get more money, that may be an options, but for now, i just want to make sure all my door speakers have power and i can add a monoblock and sub.

If you want power to all four doors and a subwoofer, you'll be OK with a four-channel, but a six-channel is recommended so that your subwoofer can have a dedicated channel, instead of sharing a full-range channel with the rear speakers.

what is your opinion on this radio? im not really looking for nav or dvd, just bluetooth. i know is 4 volt outputs. and 14 rms watts. not the greatest, but eventually i will get new speakers and an amp so that wont matter. but in the mean time ill be running the stock bose in the doors. im disconnecting the bose sub and will be running my 8"w3 with my jl audio e1200 amp.

metra, 7551, Pac sw1

As stated before, I've completed the install of a replacement stereo for my malfunctioning Blose and A/c controls. I modified the Metra dash kit to accept my stock nav unit and I also used the 7551 wire harness and Pac sw1 steering wheel button adapters. Everything worked perfect. Here are a couple of videos for the mod and wiring. Sorry in advance for the rather long poor quality videos. Hopefully they will help answer some re-occurring questions about the install. BTW, setup and making the videos took as long as the stereo replacement.

Does anyone know if metra changed the color on the buttons for the 03-04 DD kit's. In the picture on amazons site for the DD kit the black kit has black buttons, the only thing holding me back form the metra is the stupid grey buttons on the black kit. Did they make a change?

No, they didn't the button color, they just photoshopped the trim to show different colors.

Like these that look black:

Are from this photo, photoshopped:

Which is also the same reason the tan kit's buttons look tan:

2003-2004 Aluminum color with Willow tips (IN STOCK)
2005-2007 Aluminum With Factory Navigation With Dual AC (1 LEFT)

Bad news, after the last Dual AC unit is sold, they are back order, but not like the black trim, should only be 3-4 weeks this time.......
