Wrathernaut's Double-Din Installation FAQ, Shopping and Resource List

I have the p3400bh and my iphone 5 works great on the pandora app while plugged into the usb on front. Bluetooth works as well but i am not able to change the song via steering wheel controls on bluetooth. With it plugged in on the pandora app i have full control. I don't think it is a problem with the deck on bluetooth but a problem with apples product as it is not only pioneer decks that bluetooth doesn't work on.

Quick question - I've assembled nearly everything I think I need to do my DD conversion.... but I'm wondering if I need this still in order to do it. it's not listed in Wrathernaught's parts list... It's a JDM Double Din Conversion Bracket - but it's been insisted to me that I need to get one in order to replace my factory unit with an aftermarket DD headunit :/
What gives?!

Do I really need this? Or will the existing bracket that's inside my car already work for putting in a DD unit... or for that matter could the existing bracket be modified to fit a DD unit - if so I'm perfectly capable of a little custom work.

'Do I need a new bracket?
No, the factory bracket is re-used and will hold any aftermarket double-din. New holes may need to be drilled into it to make placement of the radio optimal (see flush mounting in the above post), but a new bracket would only give extra identical parts.'
Thank you - you're work and information here is proving to be indispensable

Just installed my ddin yay finally. Got some questions. I used the Metra 70-7550 harness. I showed my installer the pac roem for bose, and the normal metra.
He said, "I integrated your amp with the metra harness already, if you want me to install the other one, I can do it but its going to sound the same and do nothing. Your amp is running with the kit I installed and there would be no sound if the amp wasnt plugged in."
Something along those lines. I mean, my new JVC NT3 hits hard, but almost the same as my old stock HU. Its just the clarity in music is night and day with the new deck. So what should I do, is he right? Im a complete noob.

If it works with the standard wiring harness, you should be ok, the bose amp is very inconsistent on whether it works or does not. It will either be A) very, very quiet, B) normal volume and noisy with very poor bass or C) almost identical to stock. Since the number of people who had A or B outnumbers C, it's not worth people trying to save $20 on parts to potentially waste 1-2 hours in labor (especially if they're paying for that labor) when the ROEM option works 99.9% of the time.

OK final question. I just got around to installing the PAC ROEM harness to hook up to my OEM bose amp, and the difference was very minimal. The 2 rear speakers are actually a lot lower than my 2 front speakers and the bass still does not hit as hard as before in my stock head unit. The sound coming from the rears are probably 50% less than the sound coming from the front speakers, and my left front speaker is a tad bit louder than the front right speaker. Is it just a wiring issue? I'm not sure if he tapped into the bose amp or if he bypassed the bose amp for JVC head internal amp, its driving me crazy how much the sound quality has decreased since the HU upgrade.

Been at my install for more than a few days on my free time after work - Bracket Drilling (I think I just about perfectly nailed what I was going for here - will have pics to show once all done), DualMode button swapping (that worked out just fine), Harness Wiring.. So today when I went to go put in everything after completing the wiring (or thinking I had) the head unit does not power up. I'd checked it's fuse, good there. I'd gone over the wiring I cant tell you how many times.. and didn't know what was up.
Then with the help of forum member "zemaji" (thank you mate!) I got it. And whoa baby do I feel stupid.
But then again - it *should* have worked. See, for whatever reason, the ground wire on the OEM harness.. well - it's not grounded. WOW! Why even HAVE a ground wire there then?!
Anyway, when I put in a new wire that ran from the two black (and in my case, also the pastel green for the parking brake bypass) to the actual chassis of the car - BAM! Up and running![Big Grin](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Here is my wiring:
![](http://www.theforcecollective.com/webposts/g35_pacoem2_to_jvs_kw-avx820.jpg)
The brown and blue wires twisted together at the bottom right of the pic are the Tel Muting and Power Antenna lines. The G35 has no power antenna (and I don't listen to ANY radio what so ever) so I just ignored those lines.
So - I'll put up my install shots and all that fun stuff in the next few days. But until then I do have one other question:
I'm installing a JVC KW-AVX820 head-unit, and I mistakenly bought the PAC "SWI-PS" steering wheel adapter (instead of the Axxess one)..... Is there any way I can use this sucker instead of having lost $50 and still having to go off and spend another $50 on the metra one? Thanks in advance if so - I'd love some info on how to make it work

The unit is the OEM-1. The ROEM-NIS2 is the model number for the package which includes the OEM-1 and the NISsan wiring, version 2.

So figured I'd get some input on what I should do for my double din install. I have taken my G to almost a dozen so called car audio specialists who have either told me that having my factory nav work after my install wont work or they tell me it will work but is is going to cost upwards of 1500.00 to install with the crappy metra kit. I know a lot of members have been doing the install themselves but I just dont feel comfortable enough to do it and then it come out out crappy and me be mad at myself. Another reason I WANT to do it myself is because no shop will warranty the work if I purchase the JDM kit and have them use that one instead of the metra which I kinda understand but I mean really whats there to break on the kit rather then them mess up on the wiring and if there isnt a warranty whats the point in me paying them to do it? This whole experiance has been painful to say the least and I just really want a good clean double din setup for my G.
