The 8400 doesn't do anything with android phones over the cale, it's all over bluetooth - http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...+Compatibility - the AppRadio does some with it over the right adapter.

I'd wait for the next generation of radios with your fingers crossed if you want anything substantial with android compatibility.

MHL doesn't do you any good with the 8400, and it depends on your phone whether it has an HDMI out or just the MHL.

Wrathernaut - do you have any troubleshooting tips for the backup camera? It is not showing a picture when I shift into reverse. It just has a black screen that states image may appear reversed.

Make sure you're connected to the right video input (usually the brown RCA connector) that the camera has power (check w/multimeter) and that the camera actually works (connect it to a TV with composite video in).

8400 has dual-zone entertainment options and a detachable faceplate, otherwise they're pretty much feature-identical. But as I talked about (and embedded performance comparison videos) in this post, the 5500BHS has nothing but a higher-resolution screen and much slower performance than the 4400BH, so I'd go with the 4400. I was hoping that the next-gen Pioneer units would have proper support for Android and iOS6 devices, but nope, they just shuffled around the features on last year's units and gave them higher-resolution screens and ruined their performance.

I have the 8400BH and my question is.. If I install an external (hard drive) 1.5 TB HD via usb to the head unit would it:
1: see the correct drive size?
2: play video?
3: display pictures?
4: will i be able to control it from the steering wheel controls?
5: will the device stream music via. bluetooth (cell phone) to the head unit. The music is does not reside on my cell phone, but on google play. Side note I can play music with google play that is not on my actually device (cell phone)?

Thanks

1. The drive must be formatted to FAT32, so you'll have to use a formatting utility (not the built-in windows tool) to get it formatted that way. There is no stated size limit, but you are limited to 15,000 files in 7,000 folders. (See page 103 of the manual http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/St...nual051712.pdf)
2. With limited video formats - same link and page numbers as 1., above.
3. Yes. Page 36 of manual.
4. Yes, so long as you buy the Metra Axxess ASWC.
5. Yes. Any audio streaming program that can send over bluetooth via the A2DP protocol will work fine. Skip forward/back also work over bluetooth via the AVRCP protocol if your device supports it as well.

Ok I want to start out by saying I got everything installed.. Now I seem to notice a few things.

1: I can't get any radio stations. I read somewhere about someone having that problem, but I can't seem to find it. I got the antenna kit, but that didn't fix the problem. The installer can't seem to figure it out as well.

2: The radio sits flush, but when i try to take the face off it hits the gear shift Does anyone know a good fix for that?

So far the radio is doing what it's supposed to..

#1 is probably the #1 most common problem from my most common problems (and how to avoid them) list.

#2 - remove the face while you're in neutral, then shift to park, or trade the car in for a manual transmission.
