So today I finished the audio (phase 1) portion of my Double Din Conversion. Avic D1 is in, woot! Hand sanded trim ring, baby looks oem.

my parts list is huge..I'll just name a few things:


12 g speaker wire all around
twisted pair RCA's to both amps

Sub AMP JBL bp1200 to Inf kappa 12"

OMG, without tuning the system yet, i was blown away by the quality of sound. I'm currently using the stock rears for fill. (replacments in box)

Rear camera will go in this week and my Avox Jukbox (80gb harddrvie) in the upper glovebox.

Looks clean bro! But this thread is solely about the 05 specific double din kit; not really an archive to show off double din installs; as there are tons of those threads already.

 

Note to everyone with a 06 doing the conversion:

As far as we can tell so far; there is no where to wire up the illumination wire for the 06. We had to wire it to the fuse box for illumination to work!!!

 

i cancelled my order from Grubbs, and just ordered everything from Yosi. for anyone looking to do this. DO NOT ORDER FROM GRUBBS, they are always in back order and lie about when they are coming in.

 

How much is Yoshi charging for the double-DIN finisher? What about the JDM climate control? From what I understand, I won't need the bracket for my '06 coupe. Is that correct?

 

you dont need the bracket, just the ac controller and dd finisher. my order came out to ~$354 shipped

THere backordered on the 05 finisher.

 

C35 has a 2003 according to his sig. Maybe that is why he got his stuff from grubbs. I got my a/c controller and bracket from grubbs tue. 05 Double din finisher ordered thru Yoshi(due in 10days).

Ive got a 06 sedan . So i will need the dd finisher and the climate control only not the bracket for the back?

 

if you do a DD on a 06 you can just tap into the A/C harness for illumination- most convenient since it is right there and it is the same feed the stock bose actually used. the color on the harness side (as opposed to the controller side) is R/L (red/blue)- which is not to be confused with the L/R (blue/red) on the same harness, the former having more red than blue. got that?
