2005 with phatbox ?

does anyone have a 2005 with phatbox ? How is the quality, is it worth it, where is cheapest place to get it?
I guess it just plugs into the sat wire in the trunk and then the HU controls it, is it that easy?

I don't think they will send you the appropriate cable without checking your invoice to see which one your purchased. I had to swap cables for my 04 when I got it because I didn't have the SAT prewire. The there is some electronics in the form of a black box in the middle of the cable.

The problems that I have had with it is during extreme heat or extreme cold (I am in Toronto) there maybe problems with the hard drive in the cartidge not spinning up. Usually a disconnect the cable from the Phatbox and reconnect will reboot it and things are ok again. Integration with the HU is seemless and the main reason I bought it, the SAT firmware that displays the ID tags is really cool. Everyone tells me the how the voice prompts are super cool.

The VW box definitely works in my 03 G. I bought one for spare parts, put the firmware on it and it came right up. The Nissan "cable" is triicky because it contains some electronics needed for differential (-/+) audio. I think the control lines are passed directly through.

I also have an 05 6mt. It has everything except Nav, and Sat radio. Would I have that Sat wire that you say you have in the trunk and if so where would I find it.

So if some of the Phatboxs are interchangeable, providing you update the firmware, is it also compatible with Kenwood head units?

I have a phatbox currently and might possible upgrade the HU to a Kenwood excelon. I know the MusicKeg and the Phatbox are very similar. PN's website says they are a little different. But I was wondering if with the right cable and a firmware update, would it work?

I've got the Phatbox, and have been told that if you bought one for another car, it won't work. But, I have not tried that personally, so I don't know.

As for the PhatBox itself, I am quite pleased with it. It integrated very easily into my system, a quick plug-in to the SAT connector, and it works great. I have an 05 coupe with the premium package, by the way (since sig's are currently not working)

I've got a number of other upgrades to my audio system as well (two JL amps, new components up front, a 4080 sub box with a JL sub, new coax in back, and the 6x9's removed) Lots of dynamat as well.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Dave

I got my Phatbox for a good price, if you are going with a kenwood HU, it would be best to sell your Infinit model and get the kenwood one, you can make it work with software but its worth more to sell and buy the cheaper kenwood model.
For those that dont know much about Phatbox, look at my mini review:
