Question DLS up6...2 ohms?????

hey, been reading lots on here about the dls up6 components.
are they 2 ohms? from what i could see they are not but i could be wrong.
if this is a great way to just replace jsut the speakers without replacing the amp shouldnt it be 2 ohms to be compatable with the bose amp?
thanks

no they are not 2 ohms and the Boss amp does not have enough output to properly power them. DLS UP6 (and any equivalent component set) requires an aftermarket amp to properly power them and thus obtain the proper sound quality.

hmm...interesting. i just must have read all the other posts without realizing everyone was replacing the amp also. i had thought they were so great because it was a direct replacement without having to do much of anything else to the system.
thanks for the info.

I'm sure you've read other posts recently, but you can try these:

http://www.cardomain.com/item/IDSCXS62

These are great speakers that are 2ohm. If you ever want to upgrade to an amp, you would have a great foundation. These are very high end speakers that are on sale right now for $350 w/free shipping at cardomain.

I remember when I used to try to convince people to even TRY DLS, 'cause they'd never heard of it: )

Hell, here in PDX I can probably sell more that way. Don't matter to me.

How do you like the Rainbows?

Definately loved em, especially with the various price points. Although ever since Alumapro took over US distribution its been downhill. Nothing like when Arc distributed them and actually had product in stock. This was the main reason for me picking up DLS and Dyn. High end products, but in stock when I order them.

The Profis and Profi Vandiums are definately upper tier, but when their not available, its extremely hartd to sell them.

I had them in the car for a couple of weeks with the Bose amp (before replacing the amp). I'm pretty confident I could pick out the DLS from the Bose speakers , it was a significant change - for the better. No argument that better sound quality can be obtained from replacing the amp (also easy to hear). What are the downsides of replacing a 2 ohm speaker with a 4 ohm speaker long-term? Any potential for damage to the Bose amp (what a shame....)?

You won't hurt the bose amp, but it will put out 1/2 the wattage.

And honestly, it's a dumb idea... and there's no right way to do something dumb
