What noises or conditions were you experiencing with the warn ball joint ends? And how do you know they are worn?

Please PM the price of the bushings to me.

It was a thunking sound. Only happened when I hit a bump. Didn't have a clue what it was until I stumbled upon this thread. The ball joint bushing had gone bad and must have corroded.

The dealer didn't know what part that part number was for so I told them to order it anyway. Turns out it was the bushing and not the ball joint which apparently can't be replaced individually.

This is the part I have:

And I have 1, not a pair.

What is everyone using to press these bushings out?

this is what people refer to when they say "compression rod bushing"

I have a good condition pair - if someone wants a cheaper alternative to dealer purchase...

Hello all,
Last yr the thud noise started on my 2006 G35 couple took it in they replaced the compression rods, i picked it up and the same noise was present. I took it back the next day or so and they test drove with me and the knocking noise is easily present. They took in back in and replaced the shocks and all was good. Here a yr later same fricken noise: took it back last Wednesday and they couldn't hear the noise so they returned the car back to me with stating they needed to tighten some suspension parts. When i drove off i can feel and hear the noise. I guess since its my car i can tell easier than them. I turned around and got the tech that worked on my car to come with me. He said when he test drove it and "it was raining like hell" i do believe that because we had storms that week. I showed him the noises that I hated and told him last yr they replaced the shocks and it did clear up. But how could it be the shocks again? He said I don't know..."I can order new ones and put them on." I replied I just want this crappy ride/noise gone... So I picked it up again Thursday and drove off it felt well but the ride wasn't like i hoped it to be. The noise was slightly gone but i wasn't in the presence of bumpy roads like in my area. Once I reached bumps in the roads I was like Oh **** there it is still... when i go over the speed bumps in my home area the car still knocks going over the bumps in an angle both as you pass the bump with the fronts and rears but the noise still comes from the fronts. Could this be upper control arms? Geez I just want this like it was before. The impacts from little bumps are so hard that they are making my dash start to make noise. Anyone replaced the UCA's with this issue.

They just replaced the shocks and the compression rod bushings. I'll schedule another appointment next week to see if they can do another ride with me to try and figure this beast out

I've had my compression rods replaced under warranty about 5 months ago and now I'm not under warranty anymore (63k miles now). Once the compression rods were replaced the front suspension felt really tight and noise free, but now months later I have this thud/poping noise that comes from the front suspension when I first start rolling from turning the engine on, and when coming to a stop. I'm thinking maybe some bolts aren't tight enough, but this somewhat sounds similar to what your described. Please update when you get more work done.

My left wheel makes a rattle noise sometimes over big bumps. This is after having the dealer change out the comp rod. I wonder if something isn't tight.

Does anyone know which bolts might need to be tightened?

Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
I'd like to know too. Just recently my front left compression rod (what the dealer said) started making this noise, but only when turning and hitting a bump. I rather buy a stronger set that costs a little more, but know that it'll last much longer.

Msytery solved... what I thought was my compression rods going bad... it was my hood rubbling at the latch (metal to metal), where it meets the car frame. I sprayed it with Lithium Grease, wiped off the excess and the squeking and noised disappeared completely. I no longer here it on bumps or as I'm turning and the car beg8ngs to lean.

Rmember that our cars are walking squeks and noisemakers, all the way from the cheap plastics inside to the hood outside.

I guess pays to own a stethoscope... saved me $300-500!

Still, does anyone have an aswer tio the question I posted earlier: is there a newer material for the bushing besides rubber, one that will last longer and be less prone to breaking and squeking?

^^^ for the compression rod, no there arent any aftermarket types...

There are various other aftermarket bushings - some poly... but not compressions rods.

It's really the bushings that need to be changed correct? I can't see the piece itself going bad or am I missing something?

yes it's the bushing that goes bad... there really isn't anything else to go bad, its just an aluminum arm...

Infiniti used to replace the entire compression rod (under warranty) - now the TSB instructs them to replace bushing only...

Many people have replaced the bushing and problem is resolved.

It's the inside bushing that often goes bad...
