Diagnosing compression rods
Is there a way to tell if they are bad by looking at them? In some other forums I have read about torn or cracked bushings. Mine look fine, but the Infiniti service tech said I need new compression rods the other day when I was getting other work done. My '03 G35 Sedan makes a low growling noise when switching into drive and turning right after backing out of my driveway in the morning.

So for the last 3 weeks, I've got a gawd awful creaking noise in the rear of my car whenever I brake -- sounds like two fat kids bouncing on a bed....annoying. (and had the brakes checked first) I'm running stillens fr/bk for over 2 years now, without a single issue. I had the OEM bushings regreased, and the noise went away for about 2 days and now has come back.....I'm gonna assume they stock bushings have gone bad and I should just go ahead and pick up new poly. bushings?

TIA

So does anyone know if this is covered for sure? I just got back from a service and they quoted me for additional work which included bushings, bushings brackets and stabilizer link!

Its pretty ridiculous the amount of times dealers try and and nickel and dime you on services.

mine was covered... end links was all that was needed... what bushings are they replacing? If it's sway bar bushings I highly doubt thats needed...

The compression rods are in the front, so your problem is something else. Suggest doing a search or creating a new thread.

I dealt with the compression rod problem for over 3 years, and generally came to understand exactly what circumstances would set off the noise. But I never made any correlation with braking. So, the answer is no.

Add me to the list....took the car into Bob Moore Infiniti in OKC this morning with TSB in hand and they did a fantastic job of analyzing and fixing the problem. No hassles whatsoever.

Am I in the right thread?

I go over a bump, speed bump or make a hard turn I hear creaking like a runner's knee joint. Especially after a speed bump, the bounce sounds rusty like bad coils in a bed. What is it?
