VPP Still Around?

Hey guys, does anyone know if the Nissan/Infiniti VPP is still around? I can't seem to find anything about it anymore, but maybe I'm confusing the actual name with VPP.

Thanks,
-t2d

Time,

Did a search on google and came up with this site:

http://www.insidenissan.com/vpp/nissan/program.html

Go and check it out. If you have friends that work at companies such as Cisco, IBM, or any HUGE company that's affiliated with NIssan/Infiniti, you can get 1.65% discount from invoice. No hassles, no nothing. For immediate family members, you get 3.58% discount. That's pretty nuts man. I do believe this goes for ordering cars as well. So if you have the hook-ups, take advantage of this program cuz I know I will be. Check out the site and it'll answer all your questions such as which companies are eligible.

Edit: I noticed the company search tool on the page.

Thanks!

Its still around. I bought my car in April, 2005 under it. A colleague at work actually was asking about it in October, but the dealer here gave him a price below the VPP price if he would buy one of the remaining 2005 vehicles in stock. If you're looking to buy around that time, or just after a new model's just becoming "common" in the show room, you still might beat the price.

ALSO, note that you can get incentives on top of the VPP deal price. Take a look at http://www.insidenissan.com/vpp/vendor/monthly.html for the current deals. If you can find a 2005, you can get the VPP deal PLUS an additional $2,000 off. A colleague purchased a Pathfinder for his wife, and actually paid below invoice (before TT&L of course) for the car, thanks to the $500 cash back deal.

I used this program to obtain offers from dealers in three states. One even offered to buy me a one-way airline ticket to their city, pick me up at the airport, let me do a test drive, and then send me on my way (with free tints and other freebies thrown in) for the same "non-negotiable" price as the other dealers.

ALSO, note that while the car price and any equipment packages are set in stone, add-ons like financing rates, GAP insurance, and other things are not. These extra options and fees are still negotiable.

~ Mike

mhollinger,

can you let us know how you used the VPP program to get such great offers such as the plane ticket? Do you just call around dealerships and that's it? How does it work? I was thinking I would just my friend's VPP claim number, go in and pay just a tad over invoice for a 06 Coupe. What other factors should I include in this process? Thanks in advance mhollinger =)

Aggressive internet sales teams in a slow part of the year (March, actually). One dealer did tell me outright that they wouldn't do business at the VPP price, since they didn't have the exact configuration I wanted in stock. I'd suggest that you talk with some of the dealers with a big Internet sales presence. I sent an email to one, and got a followup phone call in about 45 minutes. Also, it helps that Southwest can get you to a few cities for < $100 pretty regularly nowadays.

Also, you will not have luck using someone else's claim number. The VPP process is all driven over a private website. Once you call and put a claim number into the system (as of last year, and according to the finance manager that sold my car), they use the number to call up your name and associate the transaction to that VPP claim. You may not have luck if the names don't match. (See da_mayor's post below. He's a dealer rep.)

Additional fees may vary from dealership to dealership (e.g. documentation fees). Also, as I said, additional items like GAP insurance are negotiable. Finally, the way I got the offer for the freebies was by saying "I'm sorry, but I'm going elsewhere." In fact, at this point I wish I'd taken the offer, but oh well.

Other than that, let them know you're shopping around. Its kinda obvious if you're purchasing online, but you might let them know you have no problem driving X hundred miles to save X hundred dollars.

Oh, and please call me Mike.

E-mail me if you need to do a VPP program and are near the New York area. To answer everyone's question, you have to be the registered name under the VPP name and the car will be registered under that name as well. If you are a family member trying to use a VPP under someone else's name--- it won't happen. Even a husband trying to register the car under the wife's name will not be eligible. I hope this helps you out.

but the website i posted above says you have two options:

1.) you get a 3.58% discount for immediate family members
2.) you get a 1.65% discount for extended family and associates

maybe your dealership have different rules unless i read the offer wrong. i'll quote the website

For employees of NNA and Affiliate-companies and their immediate family members, the VPP price is calculated as follows:

* Dealer invoice
* Minus VPP discount (Nissan 4.3% : Infiniti 3.58%)
* Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, etc.
* Plus destination and handling charge
* Minus applicable incentives
* Equals participant’s purchase price

For NNA and affiliate employee sponsored friends and extended family members, the VPP price is calculated as follows:

* Dealer invoice
* Minus VPP discount (Nissan 2.87% : Infiniti 1.65%)
* Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, etc.
* Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted
* Plus destination and handling charge
* Minus applicable incentives
* Equals paticipant's purchase price

i hope i didn't interpret anything wrong or else when i go to the dealership, i'll look really stupid haha

So, does your friend work for Nissan North America? A Nissan / Infiniti dealer? A partner or vendor? There are multiple programs, and multiple offers.

http://www.insidenissan.com/vpp/vendor/offer.html is the offer for the partners / vendors like someone mentioned.

From the site,
Through the Vehicle Purchase Program (VPP), Business Associates pay a pre-negotiated price for a Nissan or Infiniti vehicle: dealer invoice less any applicable incentives, plus delivery fee, plus a destination and handling charge and, if applicable, an advertising assessment fee.

The page you quoted is the offer for NNA, and affiliates (e.g. dealers, Infiniti Financial, NMAC, etc.). The page I quoted is everyone else.

ohhhhhh, well my cousin works for IBM so i guess he's a business associate. I was thinking that the "affiliate companies" would be IBM, Cisco, etc. I guess there was a "business associate" page that I missed or didn't click. thanks for the clear up mike. So can my cousin request a claim number under my name or only he can buy the car? I'm guessing I can't get a car through VPP then eh? I've lost hope now. Time to pay at least 750+ over for 06 coupe. bleh
