Yes, the trail has some incredible turns, sweepers and elevation changes that make driving it a lot of fun...and the scenery is second to none. I've done a few spots on it over and over just for the fun of it.

LOL... my last time was in an SUV & trailer.
I think the Z would be a little more fun.

Deane, I haven't been to Cape Breton since I was a kid. Anissa's grandmother lives on the ocean in Englishtown. I've never been there but I understand it's about an hour from Sydney. I am really hoping things work out where we can do both trips as they are both beautiful spots to visit.

Btw, I am not sure if you knew it or not but Anissa was actually born and brought up in Shelbourne......so she's a fellow Nova Scotianer.

That will be a nice trip for you to retrace as an adult. IIRC Englishtown is a little past Baddeck and there is a small very short distance ferry there. Cape Breton is definitely a beautiful place in the summer and especially in the fall. I wouldn't want to winter there unless I was back into snowmobiling. However its extremely dangerous snowmobiling in the Highlands with any stormy conditions with unbelievable whiteouts.

That's interesting about Annisa and Shelbourne. I didn't know that. My lawyer is from there too.

Just love Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail. Been there twice. The last time was in our Scout 4x4 with our 3 children camping.

That's cool Wayne. A Scout was from a while back. Is that an International?

I think I remember you saying that about Cape Breton when we met with you and K in the hilly downtown of Halifax.

We just loved that old Scout Deane. Here are a couple pics in New Brunswick on that trip. We spent 3 1/2 weeks in NB, PEI, and NS camping.
Got to your Favourite car thread I'll post a few bigger pics, go here: Click Here

Whatever you guys decide on, I'll just be tagging along. I'll like it like that...it'll be almost as if I'm on a guided tour, with you guys as my tour guides! It'll be perfect! I'm so looking forward to joining you guys this summer!

^ I imagine you did love it. That's a nice rig and would have been a real beauty in '79. To this day my dad and I call any International a CORNBINDER. That's what my uncle and cousin called theirs many years ago. I couldn't tell you what model.

That would have been long and memorable trip for you and the family.
I did my first loop of Cape Breton in '80 with my new motorcycle. That was different for a guy who had only driven one in the prairies.

My earliest memory of Cape Breton was as a youngster visiting from Toronto before my dad got posted to Germany. I was pushing my sister on a swing in the park. The metal swing hit me in the head and I had to get rushed for stiches to a hospital somewhere in Cape Breton. (I'll have to ask my folks which one.) I've never been the same since. LOL

Sorry for all the stories.

Hey, that's great. Quebec City (old) is very nice and the Gaspe run should be fun.

OK gang...
time to shake the dust off this thread.

JMO, but I think we'd better get things in gear SOON.

Since our Tour Director AKA Shane is a little iffy on attending.
We need someone to step up as TD (note Bimmer drivers don't quallify)

Soooooo... whacha tink?

Good idea Ian, especially since we are looking at going on Canada Day. Until I hear of any concrete plans from Anissa's side of the family, I am still considering myself as going and acting Tour Director.

Here is the latest list I saw that plan on attending.

Who's in:
1. GEE35X (Wayne & Karen) 2007 G35x
2. RBull ( Deane & Heather) 2004 G35 Coupe
3. inTgr8r - (Ian & Pat) 2006 Z4 M Roady
4. Garnet Canuck (Shane & Anissa) 2007 G35 Sport
5. Msedanman - (Colin & ?) pending kids and home sitters. 2006 M45 Sport
6. AthensBlueG - Brian (Canada, here I come!) 2005 G35 Coupe
7. picus112 - (Kevin & Beth); pending life. 2007 335i.

I will call the hotel I suggested earlier in this thread and get some pricing on 7 rooms. Sound good? I will also ask about parking facilities.
