I forgot to add that I haven't waxed my car in the above pic since September. Also the type of reflections on a clean black car can't be duplicated by any other color except black. And thats why BLACK is the sh%t!

just ask yourself, "Will I wash my car every week?" If the answer is yes, then go for the black. I wash my car at LEAST once a week, if not twice a week. Here's a crappy night pic, but you get the idea...

here is your answer.... OB with 5% tints and a windshield reflector + a pack of redbulls sufficient enough to give you enough energy to handwax your car 52 times this year.

my dream car was Black couple w/black rims and black tint. Throw in tinted rear lights and black headlight body, and inside...you guessed it. black all around.

for me, black on cars is like crack for junkies...can never get enought

Henry Ford knew what he was talking about:

As Ford wrote in his autobiography, "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants so long as it is black".

Ford only made them in black because it was the fastest drying paint. Since he had his brand new assembly line, he wanted everything to move along fast which meant fast drying paint.

Anyhow, I love my black car. Black just looks so nice when it's spotless. The other colors can make the car look like plastic (red and white). And you also can't see the mirror-like shine. Personal preference, I guess.

Oh, and I think white is as bad as black when it comes to cars looking dirty fast.

Since we're showing off our black cars, here's mine:

im not sure where people live to get away with having their black cars clean all the time and only washing once a week.. i tend to wash whenever the car needs it, which usually means every other day or so. no biggie for me but i know that others dont like washing their cars... so it all depends on where you fall on that spectrum

as far as heat goes, whatever you do get some high quality tint that can absorb heat well...

Thank for all the replies, sorry if this topic has been cover before, I did a search but could find it.

I absolutely LOVE the black. But I don't think I will wash it every week. I was one of the first in my area to get the New 350Z when it first came out and love to wash/wax it, but still only found the time to do it once or twice a month.

My last three cars have been silver/pewter, so I want to go in another direction.

the battle rages on:

Head: anything but Black
Heart: Black
Head: You won't wash it
Heart: it looks so good I'll wash it each week
Head: it will get hot in the 115 degree heat
Heart: I always have covered parking
Head: O.K I'll pick another color
Heart: no you won't

depends where you live...

if you live in an area that gets dirty easy like the NE of USA.

dont do it.

/me has a black coupe and its always dirty
my next color will be a metallic color anything other then red, white, black.

if there is any doubt you wont take care of the black... trust your first instinct... and DONT GET IT.

its a beautiful color and prob the best out of all of them... its just too hard to take care of if you have real world responsibilities !

ppp

I've had four black cars, two white, and a silver, and a purplish (don't ask).
Black and white are just as hard to keep clean, but the black will show a lot more swivel marks and scratches....but the answer to this is, use black liquid wax after you've waxed your car. Fills everything in black and makes the car beautiful again.

Its a pain like you wouldn't believe to keep it clean, but when its come, nothing comes close.

The only question that I would ask you is: are you a perfectionist? If the answer is yes, black isn't for you because it's almost impossible to keep black from showing minor swirls. Black looks fabulous from 3'+ away, but if you get closer the flaws become apparent. The lazy man's car is silver. Hell, you can run them through an auto car wash and they will look fine. If you ride your black car near an auto car wash, it will pick up a few swirls. OK, maybe a slight exaggeration.
