Zaino Help

Would anyone have pics of what the the Zaino Z2 should look like when it's applied correctly? Apparently I am using too much, but can't seem to put it on any thinner. It takes hours to dry even with the ZFX. What the hell! Everytime I remove it, it takes a ton of rubbing and looks like crap until I spray it with Z6.

I don't got a pic, but it's barely noticeable. you don't put it on thick like a wax and turn everything white. It takes only a very little, 2oz is more then enough to do the whole car. I usually mix up around 1.5 to 2 oz of Z2 and ZFX and end up tossing a little away cause there is extra.

Re: Zaino Help

The trouble I am having is actually spreading it that thin. I think the first few times I used it, I mixed half of a ZFX bottle and I had a little left after I was done. I am sure I'll get it eventually! I have been detailing cars for years and never had any problems which is why it's frustrating. I like the results though of the Zaino and so far, it has held up well which is critical for me b/c my baby stays outside!

Thanks for the help! It's greatly appreciated!

Re: Zaino Help

maybe you used too much zfx. it only takes a couple of drops not half the bottle. check the instructions on the ZFX again. Another thing is that if you moisten the applicator with Z6 prior to putting it on that seems to help to spread it around thin. Also once you mix you only have a couple of hours to use the product, after that you must dump it and mix a new batch.

Re: Zaino Help

I didn't mean I used half a bottle of ZFX. That would be nuts. I used that mixing bottle (small claer one), half filled with Z2 and added 4 drops of ZFX. I'll try using the Z6 on the pad first, that should do the trick I hope!
Thanks for the input! Helps alot!

Re: Zaino Help

You can apply very thinly. I can easily get 4 coats (sometimes more) from one ounce (which is half of the small mixing bottle).

How does it look when applied correctly? On my black car, it's easy to see.... you can see the thin coating evenly spread over the surface. On my silver car, it's harder to see, but since I have experience seeing it on black, I know what to do. I sometimes use a halogen lamp to help see on silver.

Other tips. To apply thinly, I use a foam applicator instead of the recommended cotton pad. I spray the applicator with Z6 and light mist of water. I put the Zaino on in an X pattern, and dab it around the section. Two applications on an X pattern is enough for the entire hood. One X pattern is enough for other sections. Once you're experienced, you should be able to easily get three coats from one ounce.

Re: Zaino Help

1. Z-6 the entire car first before applying zaino.

2. Two ounces for one coat is way way way too much.

3. If you think you are running out of zaino on the pad, just make a quick wipe on your window. If its still on the pad, then keep going. If you can barely notice the streak on the window, then add more zaino.

4. You could have gotten a bad batch of zaino. Put on a super thin coat on one window. Come back in two hours. If it wipes clean with your finger than it's fine. If it takes about 6 hours to wipe dry, then you have a bad batch. It happened to me once and sal replaced the bottle.

Re: Zaino Help

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I am going to lead towards a bad batch. I just sold my bro in law on it! I did his car once with my stuff, same results, but I know I put it on too heavy. Lesson learned. He just bought his own kit, and tonight we did his car, applied it thin, ate dinner really quick, came out and and it came off like butter! I'll try the window test. I thought I was going crazy because today when I did mine, I applied it super light and let it stay on from 10am when I finished, to about 3:30 when I started to remove. It was a perfect day, no humidity, about 80 degrees, sunny with few clouds. I applied it early in the AM before the sun really came out and I was in the shade. I just got another bottle in so I may try using that batch and see how it goes. If it comes off/dries easy, then I owe ya big time!!!
Today I only used a lil more than half an ounce for the whole car.

Thanks for the tip! I think I may have to try it tomorrow b/c now I am really curious!
