Zaino question...yes i searched.
was hoping someone could help me out. after carefully reading the application instructions from zaino.com it states:
"7. After removal of Zaino Z-2 PRO or Z-5. You should wait 24 hours if the outside temperature is under 70 degrees and 6 hours if over 70 degrees, before applying the next coat of Z-5 or Z-2 PRO."
yet, after searching i see that most of you all wait an hour or so inbetween coats of the Z2/Z5...
what gives???
i'd probably like to apply 2 or 3 coats and waiting the recommended time is ridiculous
do you guys just say screw the 24hr suggested wait time and go with an hour? doesn't make much sense
thanks

Just to add to the above, when using ZFX accelerator, you can put on up to 3 coats per day. The ZFX should only be used once per year on show cars and twice per year on daily drivers. Using ZFX, you could basically add another coat upon removal of the prior (most like to wait an hour or in between)....by the time your done removing the first coat, it will already be about 45 minutes from the first spot you removed. Spray with Z6 immediately after removal then wait about 45 -60 minutes before you begin applying the next coat. If you ARE NOT using the ZFX, 1 coat per day is about all you can do unless you have temps over 70 (per instructions you listed) and the key factor here is humidity! The higher the humidity the longer it will take Zaino to dry (I am sure this applies to curing as well!)

thanks guys, kinda what i thought but just wanted to make sure...
now that you say twice a year (which i have read) i was wondering if now is a good time to do the process, i live near philly and plan on doing this as soon as weather permits...just got the car last week so very anxious, but maybe i would be better off waiting closer to spring so the potential snow and crap wont get to the car and keep the finish lasting longer.

Yeah I live on LI so I am not that far from ya! I would wait for a nice warm day, preferrably low humidity! I am going to start from scratch and redo everything. I also have a few swirls to remove as well so I may buy the Cyclops dual head random orbiter from Detailing Dynamics and some of their polish and spend a good 2 days on my car. I will have to wash, dry, clay, polish, wash, clay again to get all the polish residue off then begin with Zaino! Should be fun....lol The results will be worth it though! Hopefully this snow will go away soon and I'll be able to get to it before the end of March but we will see!!

I checked the Zaino website and found this quote for ZFX......
"ZFX™ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive should be used with Zaino Show Car Polish (Z-2 or Z-5, Z-3 for non clear coated) twice a year on an everyday car and once a year on a show car. Also, please reapply ZFX™ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive after every ten coats of Zaino Show Car Polish (Z-2 or Z-5, Z-3 for non clear coated). ZFX™ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive will never remove Zaino. Also the NEW ZFX™ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive is an incredible product and could be used as often as you like.[I].. it's up to you. It will tighten up and strengthen the polish system and increase the gloss"

As far as the Q- is now a good time?, the answer is yes or no. If you have a garage, that can be heated, or access to a warm dry place, then go for it- sooner the better. If not, I'd wait for warmer temps if you can. It's a trade-off. You'll have the protection, but even with the ZFX, curing times are really extended, and many have complained of streaking. I've personally found it best for ambient air temp to be 50F or above. Otherwise, impatience may result in a less than satisfying job.
As for how often, as a maximum, I found that I couldn't really get more out of the effort than 3 coats one day, 2 more a week later (okay, I'll admit to obsession, but I really wanted to see what would happen), adding one coat (save the ZFX) in the middle of the summer, one in the fall (again, save the ZFX). Where I think the building shine comes from is regular use of Z6. I use it after every wash. It keeps dust off incredibly well, so the small extra effort is worth it for me. The Z6 strengthens the bond of the Z2 as well, so really, I figure I could put 2 coats of Z2 on at the beginning of the year and that would be it for the year. Two of my buddies have done just that (I got them addicted), and their cars were still beading rain like the Z2 was just applied at the end of October. But I'm obsessive remember, so I like to go a bit further in search of the mirror shine. I've helped out with about a dozen cars in addition to my own at this point, and would add that going the whole nine yards, including the clay bar was worth it.
Cheers,
Derek
