just got this, so the AL shafts they could make would def be lighter than the one's in Texas(3.5")

Mark,

For the 3" .125" wall tubing we would use for the aluminum the ratings are:

Torque to Failure (min, lb-ft) = 3,545

Torque to Yield (min, lb-ft) = 2,500

*And the cost for the CF is $1,179.86 with tax for 5+ for instate invoices.

I'm down for the aluminum one especially since it's lighter. What did the muscle guys tell you?

I will consider buying the aluminum shaft, $500 sounds like a good deal.

Now I'm gonna hafta figure out how that equates to engine trq output... I know dynapack spits out numbers similar to this, then a formula with gear ratio is used to determine trq we relate to... I need to ask Shawn what exactly the original number is - then I might be able to see how far our cars are from this fail value (I suspect it is plenty strong).

they just reminded me that w/cams i have no real business worrying about added noise and vibrations, LOL. plus they've run 1pc aluminum shafts on turbo'd LS motors and had nothing negative to report, so i'm sure we'd be fine. there's still a part of me that still wants the cf for the sex of it but you can't really deny the performance bargain of an aluminum unit.

tax + shipping + cost to use lift. I'm sure the total will be closer to $500 then $425.

I'lll just add that Nissan uses a CF shaft on the Z and GTR for a reason, they know just as well as us what the weight difference, strength differences, and most importantly cost difference are between aluminum and cf (when your producing 1000s of cars that difference is obviously very enticing) however they go with CF. Of course I speak not without an agenda ( I want a CF shaft ), but bear in mind that the CF one will without a doubt drive smoother/ present less noise/ feel better in regards to NVH. I've read a few aluminum vs cf shaft threads thanks to google search and that's the general consensus I see from ppl using them or who have used both, so I'm def. getting one even if the group buy comes up short...I MUST HAZ the CF now that I made up my mind about it

I got the impression you meant group buy price (as discussed in the thread)... which of course doesnt include install (or use of a lift)...but $450 with tax is probably about right... shipping will depend on location of course - but I'm sure local pick up is available for those close enough...

On a side note; Mark - did they mention any type of warranty?
