tranny slipping? literally...

Hey guys,

I see a lot of people talking about tranny slipping, but I'm not sure what that means!
Can someone explain please?

Thanks

Means that gears in the tranny when you engage to switch from one to another dont properly switch and you feel as if it didn't switch properly between the gears in the tranny.

My gears switch but I hear a clunck after each up-shift. What is that called?

Manual or Auto and I am guessing manual. What RPM do you up shift at and do you rev match or not.

I rev-match with I down-shift and that's fine.
Am I suppose to rev-match when I gear up as well?
It clunks every time I gear up!

Are you skipping gears and then getting a clunk or no matter what. When was last time you changed the fluid on the tranny and what fluid was used. When I am shifting in first and go up to 2nd gear I would take my revs to say 3k and once I shift into second and before I let go of clutch I make sure my revs are in between 1900-2100 rpm and that gives me a smooth transitions. If I just up shift into 2nd and just let go of clutch without paying attention to engine sounds or rpm then i will get jerkiness or clunk. The other clunk or notchiness could be due to old fluid in the vehicle or aftermarket fluid. The differential you can use GL5 aftermarket fluid but for manual tranny it is best to stick with Nissan manual transmission fluid MTF

6mt Tranny

I will try rev-ing even when I up-shift. The clunk was every time I up-shift without rev matching and just changing the gears. The fluids are less than 5k old and I use redline fluid for both the differential and tranny fluids!

I'll give rev-ing while up-shifting and I'll post an update.
Thanks!
