A flush on an 11+ year old 5AT is absolutely not recommended, especially if the fluid has never been changed. Just do a drain and fill. Lots of threads here with this advice...as well as tales of woe from those that flushed. Search them out. Also, only use recommended OEM fluid. Accept no substitutes. These transmissions are extremely picky about the fluid.

To add some extra useful info

I did a drain and fill on my 160k miles 5AT transmission when I removed my engine. Probably more than a normal drain/fill as the trans was tilted when I drained it. The torque converter was also emptied so a good amount of the fluid was changed.

I also did not use OEM fluid, I used Valvoline (with the complying fluid type). The gear changes are just as smooth as before.

First of all quit using the word flush, even Nissan doesn't recommend this service! All you need is a drain/fill using only Nissan AT fluids. Either find a qualified independent Nissan shop or take it to Nissan dealership. I drain/fill my AT every year living in my warm climate, but that's my OCD kicking in!

Uhhhh, something's not right here. Nobody has a stock engine putting down 415 to the wheels. Did you mean stock internals with FI on top?

That's 120 more whp than I'm running! Find it difficult to believe your stock AT isn't having issues with that kinda torque/hp! Are you running twin turbos to gain that kinda whp?

it has GTM TT kit. It's a 5AT, with Trans cooler.. I Have changed my Trans fluid at least 5 times in about 50,000 miles, so maybe thats why? And I have been racing/driving it on stock trans for over 8 years. 385 is my torque.. I do manually shift it when I race.. It has approx 100+passes at the strip *******************************.. It still works great! I'm wanting to upgrade it with a Built trans to put a stall in, So I can leave on boost...

I changed my tranny fluid with flushes at about 55K and another at 85K. The fluid used in these flushes (yes it was hooked to the machine) was not S or J Nissan fluid either. It never had a problem - car drove perfectly fine shifted like butter until at 115K i did the "Drain and fill 4-5 quarts" method and my tranny has now been bucking and slipping for a year. Now at 125K When the motor is cold it shifts hard from 2 to 3 (very hard) and slips like a ***** from 3 to 4...when it gets warm it shifts smooth, but i then I detect slipping between 1st and 2nd. To top it off im going slow when it downshifts (on its own) to 1st it has a huge clunking and feels like it's about to fall out. Recommendations??

Go back to the time when you flushed it and remind yourself not to flush without the recommended fluid :/.

I don't want to say it, but it sounds like your slushbox is simply worn out.

Best part is...i never used the Nissan fluids until I did the drain and fill. Maybe the Nissan juice doesnt mix well with anything else. 😫. Well see what happens when we drop the pan and replace all the fluid.
