Great DIY. I did this with the coins today and flawless. I tested it out on the jack first to check it was engaging/disengaging. Love it.

Will this "mod" prematurely wear out my clutch? I guess I am missing the point of this. Will the clutch disengage sooner or later when I'm pressing the clutch pedal down?

To me the 3M tape seems kind of ghetto, I would rather put a small bolt down there if there is room.

The real life effect of the DIY is that you don't have to press the clutch pedal as far down to engage it.

As far as clutch wear, I have no idea.

Putting a small bolts seems pretty difficult down there, in my opinion. Maybe superglue?

WOW I just did this mod with some pennies ( 7 long, 3 short) and used double sided tape. It is just what I was looking for. I'm going to find a way to do this without using double sided tape so I don't have to worry about it.

I suppose you can solder the pennies together. The connection of the pennies to the clutch mechanisms is what's difficult using anything but double sided tape (or superglue). When I did it, I used the tougher version of the double sided tape. If I remember correctly, the strip that you peel off on the tougher version is red. Made by 3M, I think. It's not as thick and squishy as the mounting tape that is generally found in grocery or office supply stores.

I'm not worried about the pennies falling apart. I'll think of something and see what I could do with it. Like I said I really want a bolt down there, but well see what happens...

^ use super glue or an epoxy. The coins will not seperate.

Any pictures of the coin setup? Trying to get an idea of what I want to do here.

I'm going to try some metal pieces and match them to the coin heights so I'm not relying on plastic and tape, we'll see how it turns out. Obviously will post pics when I'm done.

best mod EVAR... holy crap drivin got a hell of a lot better.
i just did the exact mod that Yume did(home depot). Works awesome. I was gonna do the coin thing, but i think coins are pretty heavy compared to the hard plastic. Seems like they are more susceptible to falling off after some time. But whatever, measure up whatever you want, wood, plastic, bar of soap, old cans, pens and pencils.. Whatever.. JUST do this mod!!! Gracias big time to poster. My life is complete... now if only gas didnt cost 687686868 dollars I could take it out more =)

that enables you to start your car. Kind of a fail-safe thing in case you start your car in gear.

My double sided tape failed after two days in this 90*+ weather. I have a good feel for my clutch now so it's alright.
