i am very confused as to why you guys are doing this mod.. all it is doing is making the final stopping point higher. so why not just dont push it down that far?

and if you do the first spacer why do another one to trigger the switch? why not just adjust the switch?

please help me understand the logic here maybe i am missing something
Thanks in advance!

i will have to i guess.
but really isn't that all it does is raise the final stopping point?
the adj of the clutch switch part will for sure work on mine i have about an inch or better.
i don't know about you guys but on my g i have to push the clutch all the way to the floor or its hard to shift and the gears grind, but i do have higher miles and will prob need a clutch soon 128xxx miles, does anyone have more?

I've had this mod/fix for a while and love it. Only negative thing I've found is that if you change your clutch fluid, either this way or the old fashioned way, the mod seems to interfere with flushing the old clutch fluid out. When I pumped the pedal it didn't seem to do anything relating to the clutch fluid circulation. When I remove the mod and pump the pedal, the murky orange/brown fluid is pushed to the fluid reservoir and allows me to change it as I could before the mod. It seems this could have some long term effects if the fluid isn't movin like it should IMO.. Since my temporary mod was easily removed it wasn't a big deal for me. But for those that made it permanent this may be an issue.

And this is probably related to what uhohitzmikeo was talking about..

did u notice that when you push the clutch all the way down to the floor without the mod, you hear this noise under the car or it maybe coming from the hood or something. it sounds like the clutch is disengaging

after i did the mod and you push it all the way down, you do not hear that noise like before without the mod.

if you try it without the mod you will know what im talking about and then try it without the mod.

IS THIS BAD OR ANYTHING? I WAS JUST CURIOUS BECAUSE I DIDNT HEAR IT ANYMORE.

thanks for the help

To answer the first question, without the mod, you can stop yourself from pushing the clutch pedal down that far, but then you can't engage the clutch to make a shift.

The second question ... I installed the spacer, but still had to adjust the switch a little bit.

you mean you cant disengage the clutch? sure you can it will be dis engaged when you push the pedal.. you can just stop 1inch short of the floor and that would be the same as the mod.. right?

you could just skip the spacer on the switch and do it all with the adjusting.

it seems to me all the mod is doing is making the final stoping point higher, unless i am mistaken

This is the most inexpensive, most effective "thing" i have done to my car yet. It made it feel like a clutch is supposed to. I recommend anyone who is thinking about doing it, to just quit thinking and do it already. 5 quarters on the long side, and 4 nickels on the other. I cut up a old charge pipe rubber piece that i had laying around and glued it to the tops of my stacks of coins. This gave me a softer feel. The rubber made it feel more like it was supposed to be that way. Now i am so convinced with this, i am off to work to fabricate a real metal spacer with a drilled & tapped hole so i can mount these on the correct way, without feeling so cheap about this fix.

I saw the d wolf kit and after umm i dunno 20 some pages of reading ... nice dramatic threads too.. i came across two different "fixes" the one on this thread (tape + pennies) and the one where i have to physically take out the foot rest and the fuse box and go ahead and turn a rod to lower the clutch itself not too low that it stays engaged but low enough for it to drive smoothly in first... and i ask.. which ones works best... i hear pros and cons for both and i don't wanna wear my clutch out with the rod but at the same time i don't know ..this seems way too easy of a fix to b able to work... if someone could please shed some light on this topic (the pennis fix or the rod adjustment)... again.. that would be greatly appreciated.
No one answered this question really to the full extent. I still don't understand if one method is superior to the other. I would personally want to do it the longer and more correct way if this means that in the long term things like clutch wear won't be affected.

...are u shifting properly lol.. u shouldn't hear anything .. not even in 2nd. are u dropping the clutch? or r u leading the next gear? like power shifting.. ie: say ur at 4k rpm and u decide to shift so u just clutch switch gear and let the transmission adapt on its own or do u hit the gas a bit after u shift .. therefore kinda holding ur transmissions hand across to the next gear that way it won't have to pick up on its own but have a rolling start... that could be it.. cuz i don't hear anything... well unless ur cart is cold and ur just hearing weird *** ghost noises.. but it shouldn't be reoccurring noises
