Add me to the list of people that didn't catch this in time. The part on the parts list is a little over $48 so who knows what my dealership is going to charge. Anyone have any ideas of what to use to keep it from leaking anymore, other than don't run the AC? It's going to be a pain to change because it runs along the firewall from driver to passenger side.

Ohh that sucks Russ, sry to hear that...first off, i dont think NOT running the AC would work anyways cause a leak is a leak whether its running or not...but yes, most of us floridians are using Pipe Insulation...its a foam material found in the plumping section of a hardware store. Check the thread in the Southeast section to see more pics but I'll attach one for this thread

Russ, its $58.32 for the AC line from Infiniti I was told from parts division of Infiniti. How muchs hould recharging and labor be approx to install the new line and recharge the AC? Anyone know? Im going thursday to order the AC line, I still have all of my freon or some still in the line, I dont see a hole or anything in the high pressure line but the tube is half way melted. Injen is the only Intake that ive seen that did so much damage to this. Ill take pics soon, Martin

I've got the Nismo and it's done serious damage as well. There's definitely a hole all the way through but my AC has been working fine. I'm not going to use it anymore until I can fix this so I don't screw up the compressor.

Can you actually feel the hole? If you look at mine, it seems like there would be a hole, but when I feel around the area with my finger I can't find a hole at all, its all smooth. I've shined a light over the area and can't really see a hole either. I haven't checked the line while it was running though, stupid me.

Dan, mine is exactly like yours but more melted. Its like half a pipe and melted, it turned black. I also let a little freon out of the nozzle "H" my brother did it and said I still have freon but I dont see a hole either or any leak from that area. My question is, could it have all leaked out and there nothing left thats why I dont see a leak? Or since it burned the pipe half way down it messed up the high pressure in the line to move the freon to the AC? My AC doesnt work, it blows out hot air hmm. Martin

Well, my AC works. It just doesnt get as cold as it used to. Hopefully, I will get a chance to try it out today and see if it has gotten a little better.

Well I just got back from my father's friend who has a bodyshop, and he said its gonna be anywhere from 200-300$ and he'll get the part to fix the AC because of the line going all the way behind the firewall and its a big job. Umm, much better price than Infiniti and I think he'll hook me up with a little better price also. But anyway, hes going to insulate it after so it doesnt happen again. Maritn

It's wierd that the clearance varies so much. Took a look at my 350z tube last night (been on for 3 months). Only a few scratches on the aluminum line due to the position of the large screw holding the intake tube to the stock airbox. But there was a lot of clearance on mine, to the point that I'm not even worried about it. I adjusted that screw so it is now on the top of the tube, rather than on the side of the a/c line. But, just to be safe, I'll put some insulation on today.

You have ztube popcharger. Look at making the bracket for the heat shield shorter. Then you can move the PC and it should be fine.

I have a Z Tube, I checked today and I have tons of room.... you guys musta installed yours wrong or something.

 

thx for the info.. mine had a minor scratch. i tried to relocate it, but it was still keep touching it. now that i think of it, it was close to 90 degree outside, and it didn't feel like ac was blowing cold enough.. i'm not sure if it's just my imagination after reading this thread. trip to home depot for some insulation asap..
