Stillen Engine Dampener Brace
Has anyone here bought and installed this Stillen item? If so I was wondering if there are potential benefits. Does it take some of the workload off the motor mounts? It's only $124.00 and would really like to know any opinions and if installation was straightforward, or not...
Stillen Engine Dampener Brace:
When an engine moves excessively in its mounts, energy is wasted. Stillen's engine stabilizer converts this wasted motion into forward momentum. An isolastic mount acts as a shock absorber and dampens unwanted motion. With no hydraulic parts to wear or fade in use, this is a long term solution. Easy mounting uses existing holes and complete instructions are provided.

Im not sure about the stillen but the Pro-1 looks just like the stillen and i believe it mounts near the power steering fluid, towards the front left side of the car in front of the battery. I believe Moog has the Pro-1 dampener and it looks pretty nice. I am curious as to any improve in acceleration this will aide in??

the stillen mounts underneath the power steering container(i think it's the power steering) here's a pic of the pro-1, the bottle I'm talking about is that little circular bottle thing next to the washer fluid.
anyways, you have to take it off it's bracket to get to the mounting point. The other side of the dampener mounts to some other place on the engine.

I PM'd Moog about this and he said he had to 'drill one hole' for this to install, and as you see in the pic it is attached near or onto the hood support near P/S as you mentioned. I would PM Moog to see where on the engine block this is mounted to. I do know that he said he had to drill one hole, not sure on which end....

Did you notice any improvement from the installation of the damper? Did you notice any increase in vibration in the cabin of your G? Thanks.

I did notice a very slight increase in vibration through the pedal assembly. The car is smoother through WOT shifts.

The purpose of the damper is to reduce twisting torque on the engine mounts at WOT shifts. In an G35 automatic, it's a waste. This tranny doesn't shift hard at all compared to the blazingly hard WOT shifts of something like an F-Body LT1/LS1. I'd kill to have my G35 shift like my 94 Z28. Smooth shifts around town and super hard at WOT (like it should).

I have and installed the stillen myself.Big PITFA, took me 40 minutes to put in.It really changed the shifting dynamics of the car for the better, much smoother shifts.I notice very little vibration in fact I think it actually reduced the vibration in my shifter.I also installed the rogue short shifter and changed my fluid to the amsoil and now the shifts are smooooooooooooth. All in all i recommend it.

Yes...please elaborate if you would on what made the install a PITFA. I'm on hold with Stillen as I write this. I wanna hear it directly from them that I don't have to do any drilling. Hang on...wait a minute...I'm talking with James from Stillen.
Okay...he says the Stillen damper doesn't involve drilling of any type. He's even going to email me the Install directions so I can make an informed decision.
Keep you guys posted...
