40% - Thats a ton of money to spend on a performance mod that I will never see a dime come back. Its voiding any engine/powertrain warranty that my new 2005 vehicle has (only 8K miles). My tranny would eventually need upgrading. In a few years, I may be itching for a nicer ride. Putting a lot of money into a car that is being redesigned next year isn't fun. Will the next engine have more displacment? What about a V8 version? Drop Top verison? How many speed tickets can I possibly get?
So. There is the breakdown of the moment. Of course it changes every 10 minutes.

just do it already and quit thinkin about the what ifs!!!!!!!
you could what if your whole life if you wanted to but then you would have never become a lawyer cause it would be too risky. the malpractice insurance you would have to pay would be too high. you wouldnt have bought the g cause it uses too much gas. or cause your car insurance would be higher.
just do it
you only live once and you are goin to die sometime. thats just the life cycle. have fun till its time for you to go.
now the next post i see you make better be alright im diving head first into the shallow end and goin for it.
you dont have to do the tranny upgrades all at one time spread them out over sometime so you dont take the big hit all at one time.
you can also get some of your money back when you go to sell your car by parting it out.

*eclipse was a bad example

This is a fact, not an opinion. It doesn't say anywhere that eclipses will be running a 13.0. If your car has Evo or Sti or x/y/z's performance right now, it will not compare to the model in 3, 4, 5 years, and that's that. Jason said it himself that one of his reasons against is because the car is getting redesigned and he might want something newer. Btw my original post was weighing the financial pro's and con's and was far from magazine racing eclipses or a personal debate with you neff.
And you know, like the wise man always used to say, the above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!
I say you have to go FI at least once in your life.. Jason what if you get married in a few years, have kids, or get really busy with your career and have no time for cars and mods? I agree with some of your pros and some of your cons, but if you really want it and it's fast enough for ya, do it now and don't second guess yourself. It's one of those things that you might regret if you did it, but you'll be sure to regret if you didn't do it. I too am going to do it, if not on this car, later on on a much faster car -- but believe me, there is nothing more addicting than boost, it's just like crack just not as cheap
