If I had to go back, I would have done it sooner! My TT setup had a few glitches after the initial install, but I have nibbled at the little remaining issues and the car is as reliable as stock - even better - because I now know how to fix everything myself. I love it! I don't go WOT all the time - mostly because with TT, you don't have to. 50% throttle will smoke 95% of the cars out there.

I will definately rebuild before the turbos go in.

What does everyone think about the new HKS GT-RS kit that came out.

It's a huge toss up between the APS and the HKS now after seeing Performance Factory installation of one on a stock block

I had a 04 wrx highly modified..
then went to the 06 evo IX with bunch of goodies (11 sec car)..
now I just picked up an 04 IP g coupe 6mt ..
and guess what...

I already priced out mostly everything i need to do a Twin turbo kit upgrade!!
yup i just can't get enough of the excitement.. the G35 in no way will compare to my Evo.. (FOR NOW) but in due time i will have the relaxation of Luxury.. and the thrill of watching the painted white dashes on the road turn into one big line.. if you know what i mean

I am JWT TT with 530bbs if I could do it over again....I would go with the JWT TT 700bb If I had the cash I would build the motor with forged components and do the clutch/fly wheel at the same time dont forget a Haltech as well. I would also ceramic coat the turbo manifolds, hot side of the turbos and down pipes prior to install.

Well as this is the second car I have modified I would say that me going back would be to never modify the first one....lol I learnt a lot from that and made a wise choice adding a TT to this one. I have had no major issues since modifying this car from day one and have never looked back.

I wouldn't change anything per say, but now I want another daily driver. I plan on keeping this car for awhile.

From a former Turbonetics owner, I think I rather would have gone Vortech or stayed NA. I was stressing about blowing the motor and/or getting my hood popped by police. Maintenance for a NA G is already expensive, turbo G is worse.

If I didn't live in Cali, I'd probably still have the T'netics on my car with a built motor.

go back

Is the reasons for going back NA b/c when you go FI there are issues, or is it b/c when you go FI- you have to continue to get more and more HP which in turn add issues and that cash pit continues to get larger. I for one am not concerned with having 450hp, but I would like some extra hp, and most seem to say for the money FI is the way to go...I've read differently on this thread with some of the posts. So just wondering if it is b/c you guys are HP junkies and all the mods to get that HP sometimes don't always play well with each other.

If i have the chance to go back i wouldn't look back at all, i love force induction from the start, plus N/A to junk compare to force induction. plus once you do your car right, you don't have to worry about that much of a maintenance. plus i love my supercharger over turbo. turbo give too much problem because it don't respective power, it will continue build power until it breaks something.

take whatever you think it will cost and double it. thats what it will take to do it right and save yourself headaches down the road. i see too many people trying to get skimp on f/i and paying for it later on.

so getting a vortech kit saftley installed will cost 16k!?! I think I'd stay out of FI if it costs that much just for a s/c kit

Vortech's exactly what I'm interested in... If it's truly as reliable as claimed at a low PSI application, how could it end up costing so much? Or is the added cost more of a problem with Turbos?

I think 8 k will get it safe. Performance Factory said they could hook me up with a polished vortech complete kit, utec, injectors, and tune my car for under 8k. He probably means turbos because s/c are not pushing that much torque, and I think its the massive torque TT produce that grenades their engine. Dont forget Vortech comes with 3 year warranty for the complete kit. I think its 1 year for the tuner kit.

Any form of FI requires some ancillary modifications to be as safe and reliable as OEM. That costs money. You might not need a built motor, for example, to run low boost - but I guarantee you no engineer would stick those skimpy VQ35DE rods into a car designed for boost! So you take a gamble to save money... Don't do it if you can't afford the consequences or can't afford to do it right the first time.

The new VQ35VHR engines look ready for low boost stock - completely different story there...
