Most of the DIY's I saw are for the passenger side. One of the pics in the homemade catch can threads showed someone that used hose barbs big enough for the drivers side vent (5/8" hose instead of 3/8"). That's all I did was use a 5/8" hose barb reducer to fit the 1/4" threads of the air compressor filter. I installed the catch right before it goes into the filter on my Vortech setup.

It wasn't installed properly then. I had oil in my catch can within a few days after installation.

What did the replacement engine cost and how much was the labor to pull the original and install the new one?

Why didn't you look into having a forged internals short block installed after the engine blew? Were the heads damaged too or would it have taken too long or were there just other issues with FI that you wanted to leave behind?

besides gas prices and cost of FI this is why I decided not to go FI..I can't keep my foot out of her and I can't afford to get another engine. Hope all your issues get resolved man...Sorry to hear of this misfortune..

yeah I am good to go now....just alittle issues electrically right now..I have the optima yellow top and my car has been dying for a little over a month now....I come home now and just put it on a charger the whole time...

Infiniti is running a test on it over the weekend to see if they can pin-point where the issue is...when I disconnected the negative terminal and plug that light tester up to it...what I did was clipped one end of the tool to the negative wire and touched the negative terminal and if this tool lights up then that means some is running when the car is turned off...sure enough as soon as I touched it lit up...so I dont know..

I have tested both the OPtima and alternator and both turned out okay..the batteries cranking amps were alittle low but not enough to prevent the car from starting.

When you are doing a electrical draw test like that you can find the circuit that its coming from by pulling fuses. When you find the fuse that turns off the light then you can check that cicuit for the drain.

The description you gave are consistant with an oil starvation related failure. The clacking sound you heard was the rod bearing spinning then it most likely seized on the crank and snapped the rod on the upstroke..How often did you check or change your oil?

I had an JWT oil pan spacer in there....I changed my oil at least every 2000 miles..The funny thing is that I had Infiniti Change my oil the week before it blew....I brought that up but they said it was all because of my procharger...I am wanting to pull the engine apart and see what I can find.
