Any word yet?
Thanx.

If your above the pre rev-up TSB consumption standard, then yeah guess you are SOL like us Infiniti folks STILL are.

Well I'm going to take my car to get its oil change. Its kinda crap that I have to pay for the oil change after only driving it about 1,100 miles and having the car for a total of 3 months. I'm definetly going to follw your advice
06cpv35 and hopefully I can get the situation resolved. I'll keep you up to date on what happens.

If they deny you, go BBB and FTC. And file with NHTSA too.

Yes, do keep us updated on your situation.
sorry to hijack this thread. I have a quick question. I read a lot of pages, but wanted to double check.
I just bought a 2008 G35 Journey Sedan in Automatic. Does this year of G35's have this oil consumption issue? Thanks so much for the information. (Only put 200 miles on the car so far)

^Nah...you should be all good. It's the rev-up VQ35DE that mostly has this.
You have the VQ35HR of which I've heard of no problems, though I don't troll that section so idk for sure.

Finally got my new engine put in my G35 sedan 6MT. Took them almost 4 months to get the engine. Only took them one day to install which surprised the hell out of me. All seems well so far. Part number is 10102-AC7M9. Have 24 miles on it so far. Seems to be much smoother. No pinging yet like my V1. I'll keep everyone updated for my next oil change

-Update-
Official OC testing started today with Dealer. They want me back in 1000mi.
Stated my consumption I've had for the past 2 years and consumed 2qts in the past 4700 miles. They said it's still normal according to Infiniti standards
Mentioned my consumption qualifies me for replacement with Nissan's TSB for the 350Z's. Dealer wasn't aware of that TSB.
Saw a VQ pulled and sitting on the ground in their shop. They've done 4 replacements with one being from a M45...hmm interesting...a V8 that has OC issues.
Got oil sample from my 0w-30 Amsoil for UOA analysis. I will be interesting to see those results. They were fine with using their 5w-30 Syntec for testing.
Will update in a 1000mi.
edit-
Oh...they were cool about showing me my dip stick level at full (not over full) after service was done.
Now I know they're not pulling a fast one on testing as I've heard from other members that happening to.

Well, I'm finally getting ready to start my oil consumption test. I took it in last year and they wouldn't do the test b/c I had the oil pan spacer in there. So I finally got motivated to take it off this week. I've got about a year left on my powertrain warranty. I'm hoping the Infiniti equivalent of the Nissan oil consumption TSB comes out soon. It will definitely help my (and our) cause.
Quick question for you guys though. I have the Stillen CAI, plenum spacer, headers, HFC's, and cat-back exhaust. I was originally going to just pull the plenum spacer and test my luck with the dealership. But the more I think of it, the more I realize it would be in my best interest to pull off as many mods as I can. So now I'm considering pulling the headers and HFC's too. So the dealership would only see the cold air intake and cat-back exhaust.
What do you guys think? Is it worth the effort to swap out these parts to get a new engine? I think the dealership would have a tough time telling me they can't honor the warranty if I've only got a CAI and cat-back exhaust on. I'd say it will improve my chances considerably. Thoughts?
Oh, I should also note that I do all my oil changes myself. I've had the G in for the 30K and 45K maintenance at this dealership, but no other maintenance is on record with them (I bought the car with 17K on the odomoter). I normally don't keep my receipts but I may be able to dig up some credit card statements, not sure. Guess this might possibly factor in to your advice.

If you do anything , get those cats off !!!! Take as much as you can but make sure you get those off !!! They can't prove the other stuff caused the problems but they will say that pieces from the cats broke off and you sucked them back into the engine and thats what caused your problems !!!!

Agree with his thoughts on removing all mods except CAI and catback.
Some Dealers mod friendly while some aren't. Mine used to sell/install AEM CAI's now they endorse Stillen's intakes, but that's my Dealer. Don't know about yours. Haven't heard anyone being denied due to their catback system or air intake so your prob ok.
Heard a guy who was denied by Infiniti, not Dealer due to his HFC's. It was a BS story as what they said the HFC's did to cause his OC. Haven't heard an update from him for awhile. SliverSurfer...was that you that happened too? Kinda sounds like it from your post above mine.
Far as receipts or some kind of proof, yeah imo you'll need proof you've not been negligent in oil service maintenance for warranty purposes.
Just an FYI: The Nissan TSB for 350Z's only pertain to the rev-up VQ's, so if and when Infiniti does and if it's the same, you'll be SOL if you don't have a rev-up, but yours will still fall under warranty if OC is 1qt/1000mi. or worse.

To the other guy, take off as many mods as you can and after the OC test, ask infiniti to perform a leak/down compression test as well if your OC issue is really bad or continues to get worse. Hopefully they wont deny you like they did me. Good luck.

I've heard the receipts don't necessarily prove you've been diligent with your maintenance. Supposedly as long as I have a log of all my maintenance, receipts are not really necessary. I'm sure they would work in your favor but just aren't absolutely required. Guess it's an arbitrary situation but I'm hoping it doesn't come down to that. My dealer's been pretty good so far - got a new tranny with all those mods - no questions asked. I'm one of the few with a non-rev-up having this OC problem. Burning 1 quart every 500 miles. Serious OC. I'll keep you all posted on my progress.
