This thread is alarming. My daughter bought a 2007 G35 Sport last year, and I bought one in May of last year. I change my own oil on both of them(use synthetic in mine and Castrol 5w30 in hers. She has 20,000 miles on hers and I have 14500 on mine. So far no oil usage issues, but the fact that Infiniti could have this issue and not fix it is serious. I can't believe there hasn't been an issue raised in the journals or magazines. How can they hide something this serious? I have a 2000 Ford F-350 V-10 with 137,000 miles on it and doesn't use a quart in 4000 miles. These cars shouldn't be using any oil if the are still under warranty mileage. There is a serious problem with their product quality or assembly. Good luck to all with the problem. A class action lawsuit sounds like a perfect solution. I would have an attorney on it right away if it was not my fault.

Depends what oil, conventional or synth. Synth at dealer runs me about $70-75. Dino oil is cheaper in cost.

And your sig says Sedan so you both have the VQ35HR engine. Starting in 07 on Sedans, those are the new 4th generation VQ's with no OC issues.

Sounds like it might be time to have NNA buy the car back. You are still getting another V2. It's going to have the same problem.

I was 17mm low at 1800 miles on my new V2

So what's Nissan's plan? Just keep giving out engines until
the car's warranty is up?

(My V2 is consuming a fair bit, with 6000 miles on it. Did from day one really.)

I was all set to get a 335xi coupe, but decided to do a sanity check as the G35x is much cheaper. I have read the first few and last pages of this LONG thread and I gather this is not a problem for the 2008 models.

Is this correct?

I understand this engine has been on the Ward's Engines list for 14 consecutive years. I just went on that site and there is no mention of this problem. any comments?

The 08 uses the new HR engine that as of now shows no signs of consumption.

The funny thing is, I'm more worried about my aftermarket wheels. Told the tech to hand torque the lugs pls when they remove the front wheels to put in the new engine. Just my luck they wont.. and I'll have to bitch.. cause I'm ghost30: "3rd engine is the charm?!?" guy.

Doh! I left my Volk wheels on for the engine swap. One of the wheels received a minor scratch. I should have put the OEM 19"s on.

Infiniti has revised their TSB on the OC issue.
Same revision with 350Z's. Both on 2-27-08.
They have eliminated the 0-500 and 501-1000 mile 'no good' columns.
The remaining chart is the same as the original TSB.
