Okay guys.

Just because it's a Skyline in Japan, doesn't mean it's entirely correct to badge it as one in the USA.

It's badged that way for a reason, someone in Nissan/Infiniti wanted a seperation between the two, even if it's just the badge. Are you people too blind to realize that.

Just because San Francisco is said Gaogumsan in Cantonese, doesn't mean I'm gonna start calling it Gaogumsan.

Oh well hello, have you seen the Golden Gate Bridge at Gaogumsan?
Fvck no, I haven't.

you know what, screw that above example, its crappy. and I don't even speak cantonese.

here's a better one.

You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France?
A Royale with Cheese.

le minor differences

Ok here is something for all of you SKYLINE drivers.....

What does

1) your bill of sale say?

2) your registration say?

3) your insurance say?

4) your title say?

I will agree to call your car what ever those 5 legal documents say.

Hell even the window sticker in my car said Infiniti G35....I must be confused

I could understand if this car had an ugly make nane like Contour or Lesabre. But G35 sounds sexy and sporty

your argument is wack, just because "someone" wanted a "seperataion" between the two, doesn't mean I have to abide by "someone's" wishes. furthermore you list infiniti and skyline in the same breath because theres no way of knowing if infiniti or skyline made the call, because they are the same thing.. i aint even mad, i have a skyline imported from japan

Documents do not matter. They only represent the name of the car. It's impossible to tell the difference by looking at the VIN plate.

If you call the first one an Aston Martin because THATS WUT I SAZ ON MAH REGISTRATIONZZ, you're an idiot.

Edit: Oh wait, there aren't any different body panels between our two cars. Every single part is the same. Hell there isn't even an angled center console.

Dam! is this wrangle still going on, don't see the problem, its a Nissan, badged Skyline 350GT in Japan and Infiniti G35 in the US, yes it does have some minor trim difference's, but if you really want to call/badge it a Skyline in the US or Infiniti in Japan then just do it, who's going to know other than you, or real enthusiasts, and do there opinions really matter that much?

It was only called the Skyline in order to homogenize the last in the line of cars called "Skyline" so unfortunately the "Skyline" no longer exists.

Lol.. it will go on FOREVER. I wanted to stop but these asinine arguments that a car made in the same factory coming off the same line from a Nissan factory n Japan is somehow not the same car baffles me!! Like I said before if you don't agree with rebadging that's fine but don't try to make it seem like any1 who does it is wrong or that its rice. A G35 is a Skyline & a Skyline is a G35. Hell even our beloved forum says and I quote "Welcome to G35DRIVER.COM, the world's largest INFINITI G35 (SKYLINE) community web site. Our mission is to satisfy your G35-hunger utilizing our International networks and resources. Share your enthusiasm with other G35 lovers here." isn't SKYLINE in there?? Lol, too funny!

Only the Japanese Nissan Skylines have more options such as the burnt orange interior or the 8 speed transmission. The only thing the Infiniti has that the Nissans don't is the more luxurious looking clock.

The only reason they rebadge theirs cars and put them under the Infiniti label is purely for marketing purposes.

In the early '90s, Japanese auto makers were ready to fight it out with brands like BMW and Audi and possibly steal a bit of Mercede's market as well, but they felt that Americans will not consistently pay 30-40k+ for their cars because we all know their brands as economy cars. So the solution they came up with was to bring their higher end models under the new badge, and retrim some cheaper models to fill the model line-up as more affordable options. With this move, they easily resold their Accords, Maximas and Camrys for 10-20k more to Americans who were already buying up their cars.

While Toyota/Lexus has made distinct differences between the two brands and the ES is now much different from the Camry, Nissan sends some of their slightly higher end cars to the States under the Infiniti badge without any major changes, making Infiniti their luxury brand, while keeping Nissan their economy brand. Hell, this company doesn't even retrim their cars, they sell them as-is in LHD with a new clock and badges! But keep in mind that none of these companies have brought their truly high end cars to the States yet.

To prove my point, think back to when they were trying to decide which brand to put the GTR when they first brought it over. Some argued that the GTR had to be a Nissan but the issue of a Japanese sports car selling for 60k in the states was an issue, and there was also the concerned that the car under the Infiniti badge would inflate the price of the car too much to be considered affordable enough to fight it out with the big boys. But what kind of differences would there have been besides a different badge, and a 20k+ markup?

Now, why can't any of the cars under these new badges not be ridiculously marked up? Why can't the GTR be priced the same if it was brought over as an Infiniti as it would be if it was brought as a Nissan? It'll ruin their market. In other words, it'll lower the value of the brand.

And to be honest, many people call the G a luxury car. But what, besides it's larger size, makes this car more luxurious than a fully loaded Civic, an econo car?

But then again, you already paid a ridiculously marked up price for this car... then you're going to give them a couple hundred more for some cheap chrome colored plastic letters that probably cost them a few bucks to make? Why? To be different, just like all the other guys who have already rebadged their cars?

If I remember correctly, Aston Martin commissioned a Mini Cooper model as well.
