BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
ok i have 75K on my 04 6mt cpe...just noticed this week the "oil light" would flash off and on every so often from hard accelleration to quick stops in traffic...

is this the first sign of "oil consumption"...? I don't have extended warranty...

what do i need to worry about now?

i'm due for a 75K service next week....should I bring this up to the dealer when I bring it in an act all surprised about the oil consumption?

I hate to say it guys, but Ive been lurking on this forum for a few months now doing my research before buying a G35. I have liked the look of those cars for a long time, just straight sexy. But unfortunately, reading about how large of a problem this is has completely turned me away from these cars. They're no longer being considered.

One question I do have though...I dont recall ever seeing any reports of 2007 models with consumption problems. Does the problem occur on the 07 year as well, or was there some kind of revised motor put in that year?

Uhh...yeah, you have very little oil left in engine.
Under conditions you just descibed with oil light, it's your oil pump loosing suction b/c of VERY low oil in crankcase.

Our oil lights activate from loosing pressure/suction not by level sensor in engine.

So sorry to hear you're out of warranty, did I hear that right?

Read from other OC threads, warranty replacements are costing NNA ~ $8-10K a pop.

Anyone? Can anyone tell me if the 07's share the oil consumption problem or if there was some type of revision on the 07 motor?

6MT Coupe
^ Have heard of some 07 6mt coupes, but very little in comparision to the 05-06 6mt's. Revised rev-up VQ's in factory 07 6mt coupes, not sure.

The 07 sedans have the new gen VQ35HR's 306hp. I don't troll that section so idk if with those too.
Why Infiniti didn't put the VQ35HR in 07 coupes and just sedans, still confuses me to this day. The Z got those I believe

I just don't get why we put up with this, lets take the cars back get loaners and refuse to pick up until they admit there is something wrong. Let them see how many of us is there. I just call Infiniti and they told me that it is not a common issue. Dude this is my 2nd G and it did't have 2k miles when I ran out of oil. am I this unlucky.

Welcome to the oil consumption club and we're all unlucky. Many 350Z ppl too.

Check out my thread on filing a complaint about your defective VQ due to oil consumption.
A lot of Z ppl are showing support for this since I posted my thread over there on the same subject.

Forgot to add me to the list.
-'06 6MT fully loaded engine replaced at 8000 (I complained since 300)
-New engine in 06 sucked oil again-- I got rig of the car before I did anything about 2nd engine.
-Idiot me bought 07 6MT fully loaded--1900 miles, engine's drinking--I get maybe 1000 miles and then I hear the knocking.
