Hydrolocked?
So I was driving back home with some pretty insane rain, which happened to last for a good 20 minutes only. Apparently the roads here are all like to slant towards the middle hence huge *** puddles were formed on like every street. About a minute before I would be in the safety of my garage, the car just stops of course in the middle of a maybe 3-4 inch puddle. I have a 04 6mt with the simplest of things, a Injen CAI installed. Being an absolute idiot, I tried to start the car once and found it not working so I got out with a friend and pushed it to a dry spot. After being out of the water, the dash and radio and everything worked, so I tried one more time hoping to get it back home and not on the side of the road. No luck so I walked home. My questions now are, hopefully someone on here will be able to answer some if not all of these questions:
1) Given that my car could be hyrdrolocked, what should I do now? I was thinking about not trying anymore, and just have them tow the car to the nearest dealer and have the "pros" do the trying.
2) Does insurance cover my stupid act of trying to get home through a puddle which turned out to be a good 3-4 inches with a CAI?
3) What are my options if in fact the car is hydrolocked and engine is busted? namely cost of fixing, replacing engine, or just not doing anything and selling it since I plan to leave the country.
4) Also, does anyone know if installing an aftermarket CAI voids insurance claims?
Thanks for the time reading my either act of stupidity or just the fate of installing a CAI in the first place. I really hope you guys can help answer some questions of mine with this weekend kicking in and I can't get any official answers.

get a hair blow dryer and dry all the water in the sparkplug area..get new spark plugs and spark plug wires..see if that helps..be sure to dry all that area....I messed my wife's 99 honda Civic si like that ..but turned out I needed to purchase a whole new motor..good luck with your repair..

in reply to darren03: yes the injen CAI is located near the mesh looking area in the front bumper, pretty much you can see the actual filter there.
ALSO, this spark plug issue, how does water get all the way there? just like the water splashing upwards causing the starters to short or just fail?

My cousin just went through the same thing in his Mazda 3. He had a CAI on it and his dad was driving it one night in the rain when it suddenly died in a puddle. He was hydro-locked beyond repair and he had to have his engine replaced, which was luckily covered by his insurance.
Good luck drying it out and if not hopefully your insurance will cover it.

when water gets into the intake it gets sucked up throught the throttle body all the way throught to where the air and fuel mix causing an explosion making you pistons shoot up and down.
thats were your spark plugs will be.
good note to is change the coils also. i would try and change the plugs first then move onto the coils. trouble shoot
