Finally got around to checking the resistances yesterday with my friend. On the driver side we got around 3-50 Ohms from empty to full. On the passenger side, we got about 3-70 ohms. And it didn't jump around in between. Leads me to believe that something else is causing my issue.
I tried this solution to ix my fuel gauge. I did the steps listed above and it worked GREAT..... for a week..... then I had to fill up again and it is back to normal and getting worse. I was told a possible solution would be to put in redline fuel additive. I might give it a try.
Gee iono , i wish someone made a thread on this problem with directions on the first page to fix this problem in the best way .................................................

FIX IT THEN, its sucha a simple thing to do, im not a tech savy person, but if i can do it, anyone can.
Thank you for posting this fix!!! Just did this on my g, and my meter went from slightly below the E line to more than a quarter of a tank.
My driver side board was a lot dirtier than the passenger one. Now iDont have to panic about my gas level anymore, cause iCan get an accurate reading now!

My car started doing this after my last trip to the dealer. I'm going to try cleaning both units this weekend, just have a question, I've seen the pictures where the units have been taken out of the tanks, do I have to remove the little white plactic cover holding the metal arm or are you guys just cleaning the sides of it?
I just want to say, that after 4 years of ownership and gas tank problems. I finally have a working meter again. The dealership replaced every part of my tank 3 years ago, then they replaced the gauge cluster and that fixed that. Fast forward a year and a half and it breaks again. I have my shop diagnose and it's once again the gauge cluster. No fun at 900 dollars a piece. Only at 52k miles.
Sorry to re-hash an old thread. Ive been having frustrating issues with my fuel gauge lately. I just recently had both sending units replaced about a month ago and my problems are still happening. I brought it back to them right after I noticed inconsistencies. They did some testing and thought perhaps it was the passenger side sending unit that was glitching and had that one replaced again under parts warranty. But, just like before, the problem came back two days later. Right now the garage is trying to dig up any info they can find on similar issues like mine.
By the way, my gauge likes to climb slowly while im driving and immediately shoots up to three quarters of a tank when I turn the car off and then on again. And thats with just 20$ of gas in the tank. After this happens, it takes about 20 minutes worth of driving to slowly bring the needle back down again. Any help is greatly appreciated.
