For 5hp?? To me, the perfect G is one which has every option available from the dealer- the 18" wheels, the Infiniti rear spoiler, etc. Once you go aftermarket for a car like ours, then youv'e just dropped it down a level. Does anyone feel the same as me or is it just because I didn't eat my cheerios this morning???

I disagree...if I was forced to keep my car stock then I'd have no reason to own it in the first place....I'd just buy a bland sedan that will get me from point A to point B while getting 35mpg and call it a day.

I bought my car because it is a TOY...and TOY's are to be played with a modified to my liking. I DO agree that going overboard can make the car look ridiculous but I like modding my car in a way that it looks like it COULD have come from that factory this way.

Here is my car now:

I doubt I'd ever do any body kits or anything and if I go aftermarket with wheels I would never do "poke" or have super stretched tires or anything. Just clean looking stuff.

why would it matter even IF the person goes overboard? since when is a person NOT free to do even that? even if it is extreme? you guys are arguing over something so subjective as modifying a car.. for fvcks sake, if i you don't mod your car.. COOL but don't start talking **** about the people who DO mod their cars

Oh yesss, were so cheap....HAHA

OMG, from page 1 thru this last post I've never read such bullsh!t. You members that want to keep your G35s OEM is fine but don't make statements about modifications you know nothing about. When you attend an event and you're rewarded with a trophy or two or when you drive down the street and other drivers give you a thumbs up or stop and ask you about your ride, modifications feel damn good. Last week I was driving thru my neighborhood and there was a guy driving around me making a vid. Would that have happened if my G was OEM....highly unlikely. Stuff your opinions and I'll keep modding my G....

who is the narcoleptic ****ing the dead thread?

I am not a fan of huge aftermarket changes. Engine upgrades/suspension is fine but massive body modifications are not for me. Nice wheels, a suspension adjustment, clear corners and a few breathing mods and I should be set. I want a G that looks close to OEM but still makes people say that here is something unique, I just cannot figure it out

My car wasn't even built when this thread was started.

I do have to agree with the OP slightly. It's not a G35 thing, but it can apply to any car. I've seen perfectly nice cars "ruined" through improper modifications.

By that, i don't mean just by doing them, but rather not taking pride in buying quality parts and making sure they are installed nicely. I'm talking about rattling, leaking exhaust. Poor tire wear because you slammed your car incorrectly, or just way too much. Your 20" wheels rubbing over each bump because the offset is incorrect but you "got a deal" on them and your front fiberglass bumped cracked and peeling because you didn't wanted to save a few bucks off the quality urethane bumpers. Or maybe you decided you wanted your interior to be different, but don't have the skill or money to do it correctly with proper materials and fabrics...so out comes the spray dye.

I mean this in general..not to G35's. That's the difference between a nice tastefully modded car and a "ruined" car IMHO. I've seen tons of tastefully done cars on this site...and i'm sure you will agree we've seen some that have been "ruined"

why was this thread resurrected?

driver was MUCH different back when this thread was created, as was the community's attitude towards aftermarket parts. even though this point of view has merit, the folks on driver TODAY have clearly rejected this point of view.

lol my bad you guys. im new to this thing and still trying to get the hang of it. didnt mean to start any drama or anything. i was just lurking around and found this and didnt know when it was posted. i just didnt like how people who no nothing about aftermarket would just say it makes the car cheaper. everyone is entitled to their own opinions i understand that. but like gary c said it feels good modding your car and some people actually take appreciation of it. personal preference i guess
