cd player stalling

my cd player stalls when playing cd's. it'll be playing a song, then stop (and the time is not advancing on the track), then start where it stopped and it keeps doing that. it seems like it does it more on cd #4, 5, & 6. cd's #1 &2 are a lot better but still do it randomly as well. the dealer told me it's probably cuz i use CD-R's and those make it difficult for the head to realign sometimes causing the skips and stalls.

i had them change my cd player before cuz my left speakers were going out and i used cd-r's then, and they played perfectly. i'm using cd-rw's as well now. does it really make a difference? i actually tried using a regular cd i bought, and it was still stalling. what gives?!?! anyone else have this problem?

Man I use nothing but cdr's....haha Highly doubt that's the reason. True that older model cd players couldn't handle cdr's because of the burn rate but that's not the case nowadays. I don't know if it's cuz I have the premium pkg but my oem headunit plays mp3s.

But yea...load up all 6 with genuine cds (no cdr's) and test all out them out. Then show it to the dealer and have them replace the unit under warranty.

Have them replace the HU again. I had both of the same problems your having/had (speakers and stalling) plus mine liked to skip ahead songs. Like it would be playing a song and then in the middle of it, it would just advance 1 or 2 tracks. I had to have my HU replaced 3 times before it was finally a good one and even now it still likes to skip ahead once in a blue moon.

Just have them replace it under warranty like LjN_728 said and hopefully it should be fine.

my girlfriends cd player was "skipping" with non-scratched cd's. Took it to the dealership and they said it was due to playing burned cd's and loading the 6 disk player with 6 cd's. It was replaced under warranty to thats a plus.

I've had my headunit swapped twice already. First was cuz the cd's were skipping. When they changed that..the speakers would cut out. Finally got a good unit and havent had any problems since

What year G35 do you guys own? I have a 2005 and haven't had any of these problems. Maybe it was more common in the 03s and 04s.
