What type of oil.
check the manual, but i believe 5-30 and 10-30 are acceptable. i use castrol gtx 5-30 because of the climate here in norcal. doesn't get very cold....
also everyone talks about whether to use dino or synthetic... i'm sticking with dyno for now until i have enough miles to be sure there isn't an oil consumption problem with my 06. probably after the 3rd or 4th change, i'll switch to synthetic

I recommend Mobil 1.
If you tend to drive hard or in extreme climates I'd go with synethic, else go with reg.
Follow the manual for intervals, and keep track. That last thing you want to do is have Infiniti try to skimp on warranty work because you didnt follow the recommend maintanece schedule.

amsoil
I use amsoil on all my cars. Never had a problem. I would rather use Amsoil than Royal Purple. I might just be a little bias though!

My main issues with various lines of AMSoil and, last I checked, Royal Purple oils is that they're not API Certified. The extended drain AMSoil is API rated but not certified, which means their formulation can change and there's no guarantee that the oil actually meets the spec or is compatible with previous formulations.
I'm sure AMSoil, Royal Purple, Redline and other specialized/non-mass-marketed oils protect just as well as Mobil 1. Yes yes, some will say it does better, I know how you are. Fact is, virtually any oil will do a fine job if changed regularly. However, while I still have a warranty and the manual says to use only API certified oils, I'll only use API certified oils.
After that it's all fair game. I've used Castrol Syntec, Motul synthetic and Mobil 1 in various cars, but I keep going back to Mobil 1. The price is right and you can get it anywhere.
Just my $0.02, take it for what it's worth. Not trying to start an oil war.

Royal Purple has licensed and rated oils, but none are certified. You can do your own research here:

Including myself, you will always find plenty of ppl who recommend you mobile 1 syn oil over all the other kinds. I had a buddy who had VW and he only used mobile 1 oil. He rebuilt engine at 100,000 miles and when the machenics pulled the engine out, boy I tell ya, that was the cleanest engine I'd ever
seen!
Keep in mid that the manual does not recommend you using syn oil at all.
