Bad Morning

I've never seen that many construction trucks on a freeway before (710 near 5)....dang, are they all having a Christmas party together or something?
anyway, there was this huge as* truck in front of me spilling what seemed like millions of small rocks on the road.
there was no way to avoid them unless I hit the brake and come to a hard stop on the freeway.
so I slowed down and tried to minimize the damage to my baby....dang, now I got at least 3 good size chips on my baby.
I'm just so freakin' mad.
shouldn't it be illegal to drive those construction trucks with rocks falling off their as*?
it's almost like packing a whole bunch of small rocks in the car and throw them at the cars behind me.
ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
sorry, I needed to vent.

Re: Bad Morning

i know in ny and nj, a truck carrying rocks, dirt and the like, must have them covered. they usually use that flipover cover - which is no prize.

Re: Bad Morning

Did you get the license plate? I always wondered if there was anything you could do to make them pay for something like this... Small claims court perhaps? Their actions were definitely negligent.

Re: Bad Morning

I didn't get the license plate number....I was paying all my attention to avoid the rocks flying around.
there's gotta be a law for something like this.

Re: Bad Morning

i bought myself a digital camera to keep with me 24/7, so while i'm driving, any problems with the car, i just whip it out and take a picture for proof. if there is damage to your car by the rocks, i don't know if you can really do anything about it. maybe with proof? if anyone knows, please tell us, cuz i've run into things like this before but have never done anything about it.

Maruchi...I'm pretty sure that it's California law that they have to have them covered...but if you didn't get the license plate or anything you're S.O.L.

Re: Bad Morning

ouch, don't take a close look at your front bumper cover. Especially from a side view. You might see lots of little knicks.
They should come out with a nice wax job.

hoshtaylor - I tried getting a truck company to pay for my windshield. It's harder to get them to pay for it now days. They say stuff like "oh that rock came from another truck and bounced off my tire".

and don't go to Infiniti to replace your windshield if you have a high deductable. They wanted over $1000 to replace it. Then I called my insurance company and they connected me to a place that actually stopped the crack for now. They are going to deduct the repair charge from my purchase of a new windshield when I'm ready. The insurance company pays for the repair too, so 3 more cracks and I won't have to pay at all . They are only going to charge $450 for the same exact windshield. I also found out that newer cars have thinner windshields. Every infiniti vehicles could have stock glass made by all sorts of different windshield makers and no windshield a like. With all that written my point is don't let the dealership say "it might be cheaper, but it's not OEM". As long as the windshield has all the holes for the sensors and fits on perfect, then it's all good. Just to replace the windshield on the G35 coupe they have to take off the outside pillar covers.

Re: Bad Morning

I avoid driving my G on the freeways during busy times for that reason. I guess since I'm still a student I have the luxury of avoiding the freeways since I don't have to commute to school, 5 min away. =\ My uncle is looking into clear bra for his 350z becuz he is sick of the chips on his hood and front bumper. I would get one too but its a good 1k or something.

Re: Bad Morning

I know what you guys mean. I commute the 605 and the 5 every morning. I generally don't drive my Coupe to work, so I can keep it is better condition. Even so, I got the clear bra from the guys in Torrance. Covers the entire hood , partial front quarter panels, front bumper and both mirrors. Even with this much coverage I have two chips on the side of the car and one in the driver's mirror. Basically it can't be helped, but the clear bra has saved the large front surfaces of the car from complete pitting.

I recommend the Clear Bra, and if you are in the LA area, go over and see the guys at Envisiage Design Labs in Torrance. Great guys!

Re: Bad Morning

I'm gonna order a colgan bra....
some said it could leave a few scratches, but that's better than having dents and chips.
clear bra seems a bit too pricey, IMO. ^^
