Why Did YOU Buy a G and Not Something Else?
Im currently in the process of buying another car (used), Im heavily leaning towards a
G coupe 04 05 06 , however my mind isnt made up.
I would like to get all of your opinions about why did you buy a G and not another car. Which other cars were you looking at the time, and what made you go with the G.
My list of options include:
350Z
Pro: Faster then a G, cheaper
Cons: plain aggressive styling, no rear seat, plain interior
04 GTO LS1
Pro: faster out of the box,
Cons: some what expensive to modify, guzzles gas, questionable reliability
02-03 Z06
Pro: really REALLY fast
Cons: older car, high mileage, expensive to modify, high insurance
Mazdaspeed6
Pro: AWD, cheap to modify
Cons: reliability, no torque, sluggish around town.
02-04 Benz C32 AMG
Pro: fast out of the box, awesome interior
Cons: very expensive to repair,
older high mileage, expensive to modify
04-05 Audi S4
Pro: Some what fast, AWD, awesome interior
Cons: expensive to repair, no aftermarket support.
02-03 BMW M5
Pro: Fast, cheap insurance (yea, weird, I know)
Cons: expensive to repair, no aftermarket support.
06 Lexus IS350
Pro: beautiful car, beautiful interior
Cons: no aftermarket support yet, expensive (dam Toyotas dont drop in value)
02-03 Jagura XKR
Pro: very fast and sexy (beautiful car, beautiful interior)
Cons: questionable reliability, high insurance, minimal aftermarket support, older high mileage

i could have gotten a c-class benz, a 3 series sedan bmw, or an is350... i chose the G b/c of its sexy body styling and its head-turning and alluring exhaust note.
i love the g to death.
i love the g to death.
the dealership gave me more money for the maxima we traded in lol
it was either going to be an:
S2K (but I ruled that one out sicne the old biitch didn't let me test drive the car)
or a 350Z

Honestly I really wasn't looking at other cars, the moment I had an opportunity to get a car I already had my mind set on the G. Why? It beats any other car in its price range in pretty much everything. It's the perfect hybrid of luxury and sport.. IMO.

I shopped around and landed on three cars:
2002-03 CLK 430 Coupe:
Pros: HOTNESS. Love that car. 275 hp, v8, and sound nice. You don't see a ton of them around, and you see less of them modded. They look great dropped on a set of 19" HRE's.
Cons: Automatic (which I guess could be considered a pro for a lot of people) Benz quality is in the toilet. When you hear a bunch of Benz guys discussing not whether you need a warranty, but WHICH ONE will cover what's GOING to go wrong... you should think twice about a car.
2004-2005 Volvo S60 R:
Pros: AWD, turbo, FAST, easy to make faster. $2000 and you have 360+ hp. Adjustable suspension from the factory. Definitely cool for being a four door, nice factory sport body kit, and COMFORTABLE AS HELL!!! (I'd make a long trip in it over the G any day
)
Cons: That Haldex awd makes me nervous. I keep reading little "issues" that branch out into things like the brakes, and clutch sensors. And unlike Infiniti, the warranty for THAT part ends at 4 years, 40k miles.
2004 G35 Coupe:
Pros: Within the price range, warranty is good, FAST, has all the toys of the 350 Z, but for losing 1/10 of a second I get more comfortable ride, a trunk, a sunroof, a better looking exterior, and that badass Infiniti clock. I opted for Navigation since it was in my price range.
Cons: seats aren't as comfortable as some luxury cars, and there are a ton of the G Coupe's around.
I guess I have just wanted a G coupe ever since they came out. So I bought one.

its a lil off topic
i love my g35, its a sexy car, no doubt
however, i dislike the new g37. it looks like a lexus! for some reason...
i might leave the G family in 09, cuz 08 is a year of hot cars, and i will get 09 models for reliability.

I bought it purely for style.
When I was getting my G I did not even know what packages this car is available in. I had no Idea that there is a sport suspension or not.
I never even drove the car that I bought before (I did drive other Gs)
I had no Idea which color I wanted. I just went in got financing and picked it up.
Best purchase ever made. Love my coupe.

I've been wanting the G since 2003 when they came out. Finally got it at 2005 and still loving every minute of it!
Styling and Power.... imo, cuz I came from having a 10 year old honda civic with almost 200,000 miles.

when I was shopping around for cars in 05- my options were
Lancer Evo.
Subaru STi
Pontiac Gto
350z
RX-8
some have their pros and cons, i chose the G mainly because here they are rare to see-
i ended up wanting a rear wheel drive car and when looking at the gto,350z and the RX-8
RX-8 was too slow
350z had no back seat, kinda cramp and heard alot about the suspension being rough
GTO- kind of common plus it technically was an Aussie import- so for me it was either american or japanese - no offensive to any Aussies

I wasn't even looking for a car (or even heard of the G) when I saw a sharp looking used car in the car lot. Probably ended up buying it because it was what got me looking.
I looked at an used BMW 3 series, Acura 3.2TL, Passat, and Maxima.

I had it narrowed down to the 350z and G35, and chose the G35 because it had a rear seat, although small, and a trunk. Looking back I don't think it makes a difference as I've only put people in the back seat once in 2 and years. Even though it's there, no one ever wants to ride back there and we end up taking someone else's car.
