Hit Undercariage Hard...Question

Well, I pulled out of a parking lot and badly scraped the bottom of my G35 Coupe...it made a terrible sound.

I checked the undercarriage and everything looked ok...but, the pipe coming off my exhaust isn't flush with the undercarriage...the low point is about 4 inches below the flush undercarriage...is this normal?

Thanks

I believe I'm referring to the mid pipe... it's the pipe that runs vertically (in other words running North and South, parallel to the side doors)

Thanks

Its not that hard to cause an exhaust leak by scraping the pipes. Listen to the exhaust...if its raspy or not as loud as usual u probably have one. If you think you have a problem get a shop to get it up on a lift and to rev the engine to hear or see it.

If you do...dont take it to the dealership...buy a used exhaust (or that part) and replace it for cheap

Simple solution........!

Get your car on a lift and check for damage. If you have a crushed pipe
have it replaced and while it's in the air run the car and check for leaks!
I did this with my 300ZXTT, forced to drive off a curb at the Greek Theater
and bent my HKS exhaust.......haven't been there since!

How fast were you going and does the exhaust sound the same. Hoist it would be best but the undercarriage is usually very strong and stock or oem gear holds up very well so don't worry unless you were pinnin it and smoked very uneven terrain in a critical area which odds are don't happen unless you are unlucky.

Don't worry, I scrape that part all the time!!! It just makes a bad noise, but I have never done any damage to mine yet.

i would have came back and removed the entire MH assembly! they only sit on top of the MH throat, take a hammer to beat the ring to break the mortor bond then go to city hall and chunck it thru the window with that pic attached! Geez man i can only imagine how that must have sounded (give me a minute fellas, sniff sniff)!

I tried to get paid for it and I just gave up. It is only a $200 part from the dealer believe it or not! So, not that big of a deal. Like I said it has not affected the drivability of the car and the only people who see it are the ones changing my oil.

When I had my VW R32 I had two construction issues that ruined my wheels two different times. I got paid on those from the state. This one I said FVCK it because it was taking up too much of my time….

Yes it did sound as if the rear seats got ripped out of my car! My jaw hit the floor when it happen. I thought I hit the oil pan........
