I'm interest in upgrading my 05 OB Coupe - I'm in the Maryland/DC/VA area - and I have no interest in doing the work myself - I just want to look good driving them - Anybody in this area know a shop that specialize in installing Infiniti mods?

He could get an aftermarket trunk, such as the Strafe Speed or DoriLuxe trunk.Originally Posted by JitsuLulu

I'm new so bare with me. Can someone explain the spacer thing to me on what exactly its doing to create the horsepower, cause I'm perplexed on how a spacer is creating 8-10 hp. Also anybody know where to get a oem Ztube for cheap haha.... I've been looking around and havent had much luck.

Can someone explain to me the difference between an intake manifold and a plenum spacer
ive been looking around and if what ive come up with is correct a plenum spacer is designed specifically for the VQ because the front two cylinders are starved for air while an intake manifold is taking outside air and distributing it to the individual cylinders. Is there any difference?

The spacer is simply either a 5/16" or 1/2" piece of metal that is added to the stock intake manifold. It goes in between the factory upper and lower plenums. Some go in between the lower plenum and the block as well but those are less common. Like you already said, they help correct air flow to the two front cylinders. If you on a tight budget, then just get the spacer because this is the cheapest route. Can someone explain to me the difference between an intake manifold and a plenum spacer
An intake manifold replaces both factory plenums. There's not many aftermarket intake manifolds to choose from. The one you described sounds like the Kinetix SSV Velocity which has six tubes that feed each cylinder separately. The gains on an NA motor probably aren't much, this manifold is better on a FI application. Crosworth and SFR also make intake manifolds. Expect to pay a lot of money for these.
There are aftermarket lower and upper plenums available as well., ex...the Motordyne MREV2 is a lower plenum. The upper plenums stand taller then oem and help evenly distribute airflow to all cylinders.

The original SSV that Kinetix came out with was poorly designed and had power losses. Their newer design "Velocity" will give you gains. This is the one I have but I did not do a before and after dyno with it.yup the ssv is what i was talking about but ive heard about people actually losing power from stock thanks for the help thats what i was looking for

Hey guys,
06 6MT Coupe here. I'm looking to do all entry/easy/quality bolt on mods to improve performance. I currently have a z-tube /w pop charger installed and have a mrev2 and 5/16" plenum spacer coming in the mail. I am now looking at the berk HFCs. Is this all a good combo? I am not wanting to have to do any tuning or run into any negative effects from an OEM setup.
Opinions please. Any foreseen issues?
Thanks!

Yeh.. that'll work just fine (based on what you have here).. I have basically the same setup but I have a 1/2" plenum spacer.. I have the Berk HFCs as well.. Also have a Fujitsubo exhaust..
Take a look at my progression thread (link in my sig), there's a sound clip in there if you wanna hear what it all sounds like together.. I did get a +2 degree tune, but it's not mandatory.. Just really helps w/ throttle response w/ all the breather mods, you get more air in the cylinders before you ignite the gas..
