Seat Rip Recall?
#16
Guys i just got my seat repaired. I did not have a tear but the leather was coming off and it was scratched. So eventually down the road it will tear. I took it in to infiniti of coconut creek. i showed it to the service manager and he said "we got this". About an hour and a half later i was out the door. They replaced the whole bottom half of the driver seat because the tech said your cushion(the foamy thing in the inside) is also messed up. He also file down the peace that was causing the issue. I am now sitting on fresh new leather lol. They also washed my car even though i told them not to.

But my dealership rejected me. After hearing it was leather issue, they were in no mood to replace it. And they rejected it after looking at my car. I showed them the TSB too.
I talked to the Infiniti customer care, but they rejected me too. How is it that some people are covered under warranty and some are not?
I have a 2005 G35 coupe. What can I do?

Does this not apply to the 03-04 coupes?? I am having a similar problem with my seat, and have also recently come to the conclusion that the bottom half of my seat warmer doesn't work. After sitting in my friend's 06 sedan, my a$$ got hot, in my car I only really feel it on my back, weird! Gonna go to the dealership soon, have them check it all out!

Man, I have the exact same problem. My leather is scratched and about to have a tear.

^^^Wrong. My experiences with TSB's is that they make zero difference if you're out of warranty. No warranty = No help from the stealership. This is an industry wide ordeal, not just infiniti. It really bothers me that the manufacturer can admit to factory defects and decline fixing them when you're out of warranty...

I had the same rip, right between the bottom seat and the plastic that it goes into. I actually found out after I had it repaired by the dealership for free that it was in fact, Not covered under the warranty, but a courtesy since I had to take it back two or three times to get the door hinge fixed. Even though the car was still under the original warranty, the leather is a normal wear and tear that they don't cover. But they replaced the whole bottom seat. Found out that dealerships will often look for things to replace since they haven't been selling cars due to the recession and warrenty work keeps the lights on. Oddly enough, speaking of lights, I just found out the other day that things like the HID bulbs ARE covered under the original (or the Nissan factory extended) warranty. Something you'd expect not to be since bulbs burn out. I highly recommend the extended warranty by Nissan since it continues almost the exact same coverage as the original. Hope it helps...
