oh my god..

im having some problems in my 06 G35 after doing service by myself
i posted like 2 threads in 2 days to fix the problem..
ok..so this time, i think the engine oil is leaking alil bit. After 2 days i changed the engine oil, i detected some engine oil on the oil pan. do engine oil dry over 2 days? I also detected some engine oil drops on the floor. not too much but not too little.
If the oil is leaking then is it b/c of the drain plug? i didn't use a new drain plug nor did i use a o-ring. (there was no o-ring or anything but the drain plug in the old drain plug)
Should i just simple get a new drain plug or a o-ring and replace it with the old one?

I would try replacing the O ring or putting a crush washer in before getting too worried about, a slight drip can cause a decent amount of oil loss.

since i put everything together and drove the car for awhile, should i just take out the old drain plug and put a crush washer on?
O, since the engine oil will pour down a lil bit when i take the plug off, do i just simply fill in some new engine oil after?

I had the exact situation happen few months ago... oil was seeping out of the drain plug no matter how much I tightened it.

Suspected a bad crush washer so bought a new drain plug and copper crush washer from the Nissan dealer (cheaper than Infiniti yet same exact parts).

Pay close attn to the crush washer, it has a small notch on the flatter side. This notch has to be up against the drain plug and NOT against the drain pan.

Let the car sit overnight so everything is totally cold. Jack up only the front passenger side to slow down the outflow of oil when swapping the plugs. The drain plug can be loosened all the way to the point where the threads arent even engaged. I didn't need to remove the plastic undercover. But be prepared to get dirty cause you will get oil (cold) running down your hand.

Don't use gloves as it may interfere with the speed and accuracy of swapping the drain plugs. Plus it might get caught in the threads. If you do it right, only a little oil will flow out... nothing major.

Turns out my crush washer was installed backwards by whoever did the last oil change. No more seeping/leaking.

i'll definitely replace my drain plug and crush washer. By any chance, do u know the size of both drain plug and the washer for 06 g35 coupe?
Did u have to put in extra engine oil after swapping?
One more thing, do u just tighten the plug as if there is no washer? just a plug

Dont' know exact size.. but it's the same part for the 350Z.

Only couple of ounces of oil came out. Not enough to make any difference to replace. Got lucky and did the swap really quick. Had one hand remove the old plug while the other hand was right there with the new one to plug the hole. Rehearsing helps

As you tighten you will feel the washer being crushed. Service manual says tighten to 25 ft-lbs. Doesn't have to be exact, just tighten so it's firmly snug. With the washer installed the correct way, you don't have to overtighten at all.

While you're replacing the crush washer check the oil filter too, if not tight enough they also tend to leak....hand tight plus 1/4 turn is the rule. Try using a flashlight while you're under there, I doubt the washer caused your leak.

^^I had this same problem when I bought my car last year. Caused by using cheap quick lube places.

This is one of the many reasons I DIY.

the oil cooler o ring is cheap - replaced mine with a little labor from the dealership for $7 for the ring and $10 for the labor + oil change fee - negotiated of course = peace of mind now - yeah it's those quick oil change place that monkey wrench the oil filter on and crush the rubber seal
