Supercharger

I have a neighborhood custom shop that is going to install a Supercharger kit for $6600.00, intercooler, boost pack, etc. (full kit) - Says he will need 5K to order and get started - Is that the norm to have to put that much up front? Suppose he jacks something up, what's my gurantee that he will complete the work properly? So far, he has only installed my exhaust, and ztube - 5k up front has me a little worried.

I think that makes sense, the kit itself is a good 4K no?

That sounds about right. Some shops charge half up front, but it all depends on the shop itself. When I used to work as an installer, as long as the customer paid for the product in full, we wouldn't charge for the install until the job was done.

What supercharger? If it's not Vortech don't do it, they are the most reliable. Have you looked into this so called tuner shops abilities, can they complete this task which means installing and doing a final tune for maximum HP? Dropping $6K+ you need these answers up front!

pay with credit card and then you can issue a charge back if he isn't honest with the deal. Never pay large sums in cash.

Get a written quote on what the shop is going to install before you give them a penny. Head for the hills if they aren't installing a vortech or HKS kit.

Bump on the vortech! Only way to go! I would ask for the v-3trim.
