I figured that if I replaced the speakers with Boston acoustic 6.5s and installed a 12" powered sub, I would be able to tolerate it. It's just as horrible as before. The head unit must put out all mid bass. It's painful to even be in the car listening to this stereo. That means time to shop for a stereo.
Anyone else have this trouble? Can a crossover be installed inline to the speakers or something until I get something new?

I have a jl powerwedge max 12" and it just fits in my trunk. It fits tight, but that is good to keep it from moving. I like the idea so much that I bought the 10" version for my boat.

I have a 2 channel amp that came with my fosgates. Would that work for 2 speakers up front? And what did you do with the rest of the speakers in the back, leave em?

Wait wait, you are running the speakers off the headunit correct? And I don't exactly get what you mean with the sub, but I assume that has it's own aftermarket amp powering it right?
Those speakers almost definitely need their own amp, I can't believe they even are wired to run at the same resistance as stock speakers...

Oh yes, they work exactly the same. You do realize that I have the Non-Bose system right? I might not have been clear about that.
Stock and aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm. I actually think there is no major difference after the 6.5 change. I just expected so much more.
As for the sub addition, I just ended up with more bass and still have the boom in front. An equalizer would fix this, but the wiring would be a nightmare.
