I dirve an 03 G35 coupe..

When my lights are turned off , the dashboard , radio lights are all on and working... BUT when i go to turn my lights on, the dashboard, radio and no lights on the cockpit are are running/working.

.. is this a fuse problem or an electric problem? Has anyone had this issue before ? and how do you fix ?

sounds like a wiring problem to me, any wiring been done on the car say for aftermarket gauges, televisions, anything??? just my thought

 

nope the car is completely stock ..

 

wow man hopefully somebody else on here will have some ideas? u can go ahead and check fuses and make sure the right amp ones are in there. what year is the car??? they have the service manuals for the 04 in .pdf form somewhere on this site

 

its a 2003(red coupe g35 with no wing..just got the roof ,side mirrors , back bumber lip painted black but anyways yeaa the car is completely stock man with 52k on it..

 

EDIT: n/m you're having a diff problem unrelated to the dimmer switch I read it wrong

 

but ya if anyone doesn't knw try to get in touch with one of the many techs that have accounts on here. maybe they could send u in some type of direction

Apologies for asking an obvious question - have you tried adjusting the dashboard dimmer? Down by your left knee, right next to the trunk opening switch. I will often miss the trunk opener, roll down the dimmer - interior lights go off, just like you describe until I roll the dimmer back up.

BTW, I think what you are saying (with clarifications added) is

If, OTOH, the radio itself doesn't work (no sound comes out) when you turn on your lights, my answer doesn't apply.

 

Did this ever get resolved? I have the exact same problem. I have been going through all the forums but I don't see resolution, or even if it was linked to the problem that most people have with the a/c unit and the stereo. My problem is that when the headlights are off everything functions properly; but when I turn on the headlights I lose all dashboard illumination and function (no climate control, no defrost, no stereo controls although it still plays music, can't see the speedometer, etc). I have an '04 coupe.

Any info on this would help. Thanks.
