VQ35DE Crank Position Sensor

Ok, so my car is throwing the code for the crank position sensor or bank 1 cam position sensor. I've already replaced the cam sensor on the passenger side and the light has came back on.

My question is, which sensor is the crank position sensor!!?!!?!?!

I've searched for this using Google and a couple of the hits were to threads on this site. According to my searches, the crank position sensor is located on the drivers side of the engine block below and to the left of the bank 2 cam position sensor. This doesn't make sense to me b/c this sensor is no where near the crank... The sensor that makes the most sense to me as being the crank position sensor is a sensor located on the bell housing of the transmission b/c this sensor can "see" the crank.

I went to Nissan and ordered the crank position sensor and when I received the sensor it didn't have an oring on it. The sensor that, from what I've read, is the located below and to the left of the bank 2 cam sensor has an oring on it.

The sensor that is located on the bell housing of the transmission doesn't have an oring.

I tried installing the sensor from Nissan into the location near the cam sensor and I could not get the connector to plug in.

I installed the sensor from Nissan into the location on the bell housing of the transmission and I was able to get the connector to plug in. I tried starting the car and it wouldn't start, where it has started with no issues with the bad sensors...

Please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong... So far this site hasn't helped me one bit and I'm taking my sensors to Nissan tomorrow to figure out what the heck also. I need to get this figured out b/c my tags have been due for a while now and I've been trying to figure out why this code is on.

Oh, back in Feb or Mar, Infiniti replaced my short block under warranty b/c of the Oil Consumption TSB. I'm to the point where I'm going to take it to them and make them fix it for free b/c I didn't have any lights on prior to the replacing the short block...

Helps a ton if you write down the code number instead of just wiping them. The ECM already told you what kind of problem it experienced.

Keep driving for a day or two and the code will come back on. Let us know what code it is.
